The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Feature Film Animator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for bringing characters to life through sophisticated acting choices and technical excellence. You will collaborate closely with leadership to maintain character integrity and set a high standard of quality for the entire animation department.
Key Responsibilities
Character Performance & Artistry
- Develop deep emotional content for scenes through strong acting skills and original, memorable choices.
- Ensure all animation is “on model” by collaborating with the Head of Character Animation and Supervising Animators.
- Maintain a high level of aesthetic “appeal” in posing, elevating character designs through every shot.
- Adapt seamlessly to a variety of animation styles and visual languages.
Technical Execution & Pipeline
- Establish and maintain outstanding physical mechanics in character movement.
- Test character setups and contribute to the development of new animation tools.
- Troubleshoot technical issues independently and navigate a complex CG animation pipeline.
- Proactively communicate schedule risks or production delays to leadership.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as a mentor to junior animators, sharing tips, tricks, and technical workflows.
- Participate in a feedback-rich environment, staying adaptable to creative changes.
- Contribute to department efficiencies and seek opportunities to drive the studio forward.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: BA or equivalent professional experience/training.
- Experience: 3+ years of professional CG Animation experience within a production environment.
- Specialization: Proven track record in high-level Character Performance.
- Availability: Willingness to work overtime or weekends as dictated by production deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in Drawing and Traditional Animation principles.
- Strong understanding of Character Rigging.
- Experience with Storyboarding.
