About the Role

As a Mid Lighting Artist, you will play an important role in preparing shots for final delivery. You will be expected to work independently on assigned shots while following the creative direction provided by supervisors and the requirements of each project.

Your work will involve establishing lighting setups, rendering scenes, making adjustments based on feedback, and ensuring that shots maintain consistency and quality throughout the production. You will also work with other departments and artists when necessary to ensure that assets, scenes, and renders are prepared correctly.

The position requires both artistic judgment and technical understanding. You should be comfortable working with complex scenes, troubleshooting lighting or rendering issues, and making decisions that help achieve the desired visual result while maintaining efficient production workflows. canada jobs.

Qualifications & Skills

Candidates should have 3 or more years of professional experience in lighting, preferably within commercials, film, television, animation, or visual effects production.

Strong working knowledge of Houdini and Nuke is required. You should also have a solid understanding of lighting principles, colour, rendering, and how lighting integrates into a wider VFX production pipeline.

You should be comfortable working with physically plausible rendering techniques and understand how different lighting and rendering decisions can affect the final image. Knowledge of rendering efficiency and scene optimization is also important, particularly when working with complex shots and production deadlines.

Strong organizational skills are essential, as the role may require you to manage multiple tasks while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines. You should also be comfortable receiving direction, responding positively to feedback, and working collaboratively with supervisors and fellow artists.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional Lighting experience in commercials, film, or television.
  • Strong knowledge of Houdini and Nuke.
  • Good understanding of lighting and colour.
  • Understanding of physically plausible rendering.
  • Knowledge of rendering efficiency and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of the VFX production pipeline.
  • Good organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to take direction and respond positively to feedback.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Look Development experience is a plus.
