About the Role
The Compositing Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the artistic and technical quality of the 2D department on assigned projects.
You will act as a bridge between artists, supervisors, production, and other departments, making sure everyone is aligned on the creative direction, technical requirements, and delivery schedule.
This is a hands-on leadership position. Along with supervising the team, you may work directly on important shots and complex sequences when needed.
What You’ll Do
🎨 Creative Supervision
- Turn the project’s visual direction into clear instructions for Compositing Artists.
- Lead daily reviews and provide useful, actionable feedback.
- Review work-in-progress shots and final versions.
- Work with VFX and CG Supervisors to maintain visual consistency.
- Help solve challenging compositing and integration problems.
- Contribute directly to key shots and complex sequences when required.
- Find practical creative solutions that fit the project’s schedule and resources.
🖥️ Technical Direction
- Maintain high technical standards across the compositing team.
- Review Nuke scripts for quality, organization, and efficiency.
- Ensure renders and final deliverables are clean and production-ready.
- Help develop useful compositing templates and tools.
- Monitor consistency across shots and sequences.
- Work with other departments to identify and resolve technical issues quickly.
👥 Team Leadership
- Mentor and support Compositing Artists throughout the project.
- Help artists improve their creative and technical skills.
- Communicate goals and expectations clearly.
- Conduct briefings, dailies, and individual discussions when required.
- Identify training and development needs within the team.
- Encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Help maintain a respectful and positive working environment.
📊 Production & Planning
- Work with Production on estimates, staffing, and delivery planning.
- Help select artists according to project requirements and individual strengths.
- Track shot progress and identify potential delays early.
- Adjust priorities when project requirements change.
- Help Production maintain realistic delivery schedules.
- Provide feedback on artist performance and development.
- Support project reviews and delivery documentation when required.
🔧 Workflow Improvement
- Identify areas where the compositing process can be improved.
- Suggest faster and more reliable ways of working.
- Keep tools, templates, and documentation organized and up to date.
- Look for opportunities to simplify repetitive tasks and improve efficiency.
- Support the development of new compositing tools and workflows.
- Help standardize effective practices across projects.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements
- 8+ years of professional digital compositing experience in high-end VFX.
- Experience on feature films and/or episodic productions.
- Previous experience as a Compositing Lead, Compositing Supervisor, or similar senior role.
- Excellent knowledge of Nuke.
- Strong demo reel or portfolio showing:
- Photorealistic compositing
- Complex 2D/3D integration
- Strong visual judgement
- Advanced understanding of:

- Strong knowledge of VFX production pipelines.
- Experience working across multiple departments.
