About the Role
As a Senior Compositing Artist, you will be responsible for bringing together different visual elements to create seamless and believable final images.
You will work with live-action footage, CG elements, effects, and other assets to create polished VFX shots that match the creative direction of the project.
You will work closely with Compositing Leads, VFX Supervisors, Production, and other departments to ensure that every shot meets the required artistic and technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
🎬 Compositing & 2D Work
- Perform professional compositing work using Nuke.
- Combine live-action footage, CG, FX, and other visual elements.
- Create accurate masks and perform rotoscoping.
- Remove unwanted objects, rigs, wires, and other technical elements.
- Perform background cleanup and image retouching.
- Handle pre-compositing and element preparation.
- Perform 2D tracking and keying.
- Apply color correction and grading adjustments.
- Manage grain removal and grain addition.
- Integrate CG and 2D elements naturally into live-action footage.
- Choose the appropriate compositing techniques for each shot.
🎨 Creative Quality
- Create realistic and visually convincing compositions.
- Maintain visual consistency across shots and sequences.
- Follow the artistic direction provided by Leads and Supervisors.
- Work with Supervisors and Leads to improve the final look of shots.
- Find simple and effective solutions to creative challenges.
- Adjust compositions to improve the overall visual impact of the shot.
⚙️ Technical Quality
- Deliver clean, organized, and technically correct Nuke scripts.
- Identify and solve technical problems independently.
- Communicate upstream issues to the appropriate departments.
- Apply feedback quickly and accurately.
- Perform detailed quality checks before submitting work.
- Follow Rodeo FX’s production and technical standards.

Requirements
Essential Requirements
- 5+ years of professional digital compositing experience in the VFX industry.
- Experience working on high-end feature films and/or episodic productions is preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of Nuke.
- Strong portfolio or demo reel showing high-quality photorealistic compositing.
- Strong understanding of integrating 2D and 3D elements.
- Good understanding of photographic principles, including:
