Creature Animator – Prismatic Interactive

Prismatic Interactive_Creature Animator_01

Job Overview Project & Compensation Overview Feature Details Role Title Lead Character & Creature Animator Work Location Remote (Global Availability) Project Type Contract / Revenue Share Target Hourly Rate $39.00 USD Payout Priority Contractors First (Founders are “Last in Line” for pay) Payment Logic Prorated: Based on total hours and rate relative to the available revenue pool. Core Platforms Unreal Engine 5, Maya/Blender, Motion Capture Data Primary Genre Psychological & Creature Horror The Role: Lead Animator (Character & Creature Specialty) Prismatic Interactive is currently seeking a visionary animator to join our remote global team. We are not just looking for someone to move a rig from Point A to Point B; we are seeking a storyteller who understands the weight of fear, the precision of tactical movement, and the unsettling kinetic energy of things that go bump in the night. As we push the boundaries of independent horror, your role as an animator will be the heartbeat of the player experience. From the heavy, labored breathing of a hiding protagonist to the erratic, bone-snapping lunge of a nightmare entity, your work will define the very essence of our game. The Prismatic Interactive Compensation Model We believe in radical transparency. In the world of animation jobs, “Revenue Share” can often feel vague. At Prismatic Interactive, we have structured our payout system to prioritize the artists over the executives. Category Policy Details Target Hourly Rate $39/hr (The benchmark for your value) Location Remote (Global) Contract Type Revenue Share (Prorated) Payout Hierarchy Founders are Last: Contractors are paid 100% of their accrued value before founders receive profit. Distribution Hours x Rate: Payouts are distributed based on your contribution relative to the project’s total revenue pool. Section I: The Mission of an Animator at Prismatic Interactive In the realm of horror, the animator is the ultimate manipulator of tension. At Prismatic Interactive, your mission is divided into three distinct pillars of motion: 1. Tactical Realism (The Human Element) Our game features characters with military backgrounds. This requires a sophisticated understanding of “tactical kinesthetics.” You will be responsible for animating movements that feel grounded and professional—proper weapon high-ready/low-ready transitions, the specific weight of a tactical reload under pressure, and the subtle ways a body compensates for fatigue and injury. 2. The Uncanny Valley (The Creature Element) Horror thrives in the “wrongness” of motion. You will design creature animation sets that defy human expectation. We want movement that feels organic yet predatory—creatures that shift their weight in ways that trigger a primal flight response in the player. 3. Narrative Through Motion Every flinch, every glance, and every idle animation should tell the player something about the character’s mental state. You will work closely with the narrative team to ensure the animator’s touch is visible in every story beat. Section II: Key Responsibilities As a core member of the Prismatic Interactive team, your daily workflow will involve a blend of creative artistry and technical implementation: Breathe Life into Horror: Create high-fidelity, lifelike character and creature animations from scratch using Maya or Blender. Motion Capture Mastery: Clean up, retarget, and polish raw mocap data to ensure it meets our stylistic requirements while maintaining the realism of the original performance. UE5 Integration: You will not just hand off assets; you will be an active participant in Unreal Engine 5. This includes setting up and maintaining complex Animation Blueprints, Blend Spaces, and State Machines. Rigging Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with riggers to ensure skeletal structures support the extreme deformations required for horror transformations. Optimization: In animation jobs, performance is as important as visuals. You will optimize animation assets to ensure smooth framerates without sacrificing the “crunch” of the movement. Voice Collaboration: Maintain active communication via Discord. Since we are a remote team, a high-quality mic and a collaborative spirit are essential. Section III: Requirements & Technical Proficiency We are looking for an animator who has weathered the storms of game production and emerged with a refined eye for detail. Core Requirements: 3+ Years of Experience: You have a proven track record in character animation for 3D games. The UE5 Edge: Professional proficiency in the Unreal Engine 5 animation pipeline is non-negotiable. You should be comfortable with the “logic” of motion, not just the “art” of it. Software Agnostic: Whether you prefer Maya or Blender, you must be able to deliver clean, game-ready exports that adhere to our naming conventions and bone structures. Mechanical Understanding: You understand the fundamentals of rigging and skinning. You know why a mesh collapses at the shoulder and how to communicate that to the technical art team. Fluency: High-level English proficiency is required for real-time technical troubleshooting and creative brainstorming. Section IV: The “Prismatic” Preferred Qualifications While the above are the essentials, we are looking for an animator who brings a unique “edge” to the table. We prioritize candidates with: A Horror-Centric Portfolio: Show us you can make something move in a way that is genuinely disturbing. We want to see your creature work, your “shaky cam” perspectives, and your mastery of suspense. Military Knowledge: If you understand the difference between a civilian’s walk and a soldier’s “patrol gait,” you have a significant advantage. Facial Animation Experience: Horror is found in the eyes. Experience with MetaHuman or Live Link Face is a massive plus. The Mocap Cleanup Specialist: If you can take messy, noisy mocap data and turn it into a buttery-smooth (yet realistic) performance, you are exactly who we need. Section V: Why This is Unique Among Animation Jobs Most animation jobs treat the artist as a production line worker. At Prismatic Interactive, you are a stakeholder. Because of our Revenue Share model, your efficiency and creativity directly impact the project’s success and, by extension, your financial reward. We have removed the “middle management” bloat found in AAA studios. Here, the animator speaks directly to the Lead Developer. There are no layers of bureaucracy between your idea and the game build. We value “The Best Idea,” regardless of who it comes from. Section VI: Life … Read more

Gunfire Games hiring Boss Designer (Junior – Mid Level)

Gunfire Games

Job Overview Category Details Studio Gunfire Games (Creators of Remnant II, Darksiders III, Chronos) Position Title Boss Designer (Junior to Mid-Level) Specialization Exclusive to Combat & AI (Not Level, Narrative, or General Design) Location Austin, TX — WFH Flexible Job Type Full-time (May be offered as Temp-to-Hire) Salary Range $60,000 – $80,000 (Based on experience and skills) At Gunfire Games, we don’t just build games; we build challenges that define a player’s journey. From the dark, visceral world of the Darksiders series to the high-stakes, tactical combat of Remnant: From the Ashes and Remnant II, our studio is synonymous with ambitious combat-driven worlds. We believe that a great game is often measured by the quality of its adversaries, and we are currently looking for a specialized Junior to Mid-Level Boss Designer to join our ranks. This is a highly focused role. Unlike generalist design positions, this role is dedicated exclusively to combatant and boss design. We are looking for a designer who lives and breathes AI behavior, attack patterns, and the “dance” of high-intensity combat encounters. If you prefer scripting a complex multi-phase boss fight over building a level layout or writing narrative quests, this is the role for you. The Role: What You’ll Do As a Boss Designer at Gunfire Games, you will be the architect of adrenaline. You will take a boss from a conceptual idea and turn it into a living, breathing nightmare for our players using Unreal Engine. Core Responsibilities: Design & Prototype: Conceive, prototype, and implement sophisticated boss and combatant behaviors. You will be responsible for the “logic” of the fight—defining how an enemy moves, reacts, and attacks. Technical Implementation: Work hands-on within Unreal Engine Blueprints and State Machines. You will build the foundational logic for special abilities, attack chains, and encounter-specific mechanics. Combat Tuning: Fine-tune the “feel” of combat. This includes managing pacing, difficulty scaling, player readability, and the precision of hitboxes and hurtboxes. Cross-Discipline Collaboration: You are the bridge between art and code. You will work closely with Animators to ensure telegraphs are readable, Programmers to optimize AI systems, and Artists to ensure the visual spectacle matches the mechanical depth. Iterative Refinement: Participate in rigorous playtesting. You will take raw feedback and iterate on mechanics, timing windows, and “tells” to ensure the boss is challenging but fair. Systemic Consistency: Follow the project’s overarching combat direction to ensure every encounter feels like a natural part of the Gunfire Games DNA. Who You Are: Qualifications & Skills We are looking for a designer who understands that boss design is a mix of technical scripting, psychological warfare, and rhythmic timing. Professional Profile: Combat Enthusiast: You have a deep-seated passion for action games. You understand why certain bosses become “legendary” and can break down the mechanics behind them. Unreal Expert (Scripting): You possess hands-on experience with Unreal Blueprints, state machines, or gameplay scripting. You are comfortable navigating the technical side of encounter logic. Eye for Readability: You understand player feedback loops. You know how to design “telegraphs” (tells) that allow a player to learn and master a fight through observation. Specialized Focus: You are someone who actively prefers working on enemy/combat systems over level layout, puzzle design, or narrative writing. Collaborative Spirit: You thrive in a team environment, communicate clearly across disciplines, and have a hunger to learn from industry veterans. Portfolio Requirements: Applications without combat-focused examples will not be considered. Your portfolio must demonstrate: Playable Prototypes or Videos: Show us your boss encounters or complex enemy AI in action. Design Documentation: Explain the “Why” behind your mechanics—phases, telegraphs, and design intent. Technical Breakdowns: Samples of your Blueprints or state machines to show how you implemented your ideas. Bonus XP (The “Nice-to-Haves”) Direct experience building AI Behavior Trees. Familiarity with Technical Animation (Root motion, montages, and sync markers). Experience with Combat Scripting (Aggression logic and phase-shifting). A proven track record of tuning difficulty and balancing combat stats for varied player skill levels. Compensation & Logistics Pay Range: $60,000 – $80,000 per year. (Final compensation is based on skills, experience, and professional considerations). Employment Type: Full-time. Please note this position may be offered on a temp-to-hire basis.
