The Role: Architect of Visual Magic
The Principal VFX Artist at Playrix occupies a unique space between high-level strategy and hands-on execution. You will work within a powerhouse team of specialists in UI, 2D, and Animation, operating in short iterations to stay ahead of market trends. Your primary focus is the UI layer, where you will transform static interfaces into living, breathing feedback systems that delight the player.
Detailed Responsibilities
1. High-End VFX Production
Feature Development: Create complex, “spellbinding” UI effects for new gameplay features, ensuring they align with the Gardenscapes aesthetic.
Legacy Redesign: Audit and overhaul existing legacy UI effects to meet modern 2026 visual standards.
Integration: Take full ownership of the integration process, ensuring that effects are optimized and function seamlessly within the game engine.
2. Strategic Vision & Systems
Design Systems: Optimize and create new universal effects for the project’s design system, ensuring a consistent visual language across all features.
Documentation: Create “gold standard” documentation for key effects to serve as a blueprint for other teams and external partners.
Technology Distribution: Act as a bridge between teams, distributing innovative solutions and new VFX technologies across the Playrix ecosystem.
3. Leadership & Collaboration
Producer Synergy: Collaborate closely with the Project Producer to form a long-term vision for the UI layer’s visual effects.
Mentorship: Exchange experience with leading industry experts within Playrix and set the bar for quality and speed.
AI Innovation: Utilize and help refine Playrix’s unique AI pipelines and neural network tools to optimize creativity and production speed.
Requirements: The Principal Standard
We are looking for an artist who possesses “Product Thinking”—someone who doesn’t just make beautiful sparks, but understands why an effect helps the game succeed.
Industry Tenure: 5+ years of professional experience as a VFX Artist or Animator, with a heavy emphasis on mobile projects.
Artistic Style: A portfolio that demonstrates mastery of the Casual/Mobile style. Experience in the match-3 genre is a significant advantage.
Technical Depth: A deep understanding of the technical constraints of mobile game effects, including atlases, batching, and performance optimization.
Speed & Quality: The ability to perform rapid searches for new solutions and iterate quickly without losing quality. We value artists who can look at top market products and adapt those references into something unique for our players.
Language: Fluency in Russian is required for internal synchronization and collaboration.
Product Immersion: A passion for top-tier mobile products and an intuitive understanding of why certain effects resonate with a casual audience.
Why You’ll Love Working With Us
Artist as Partner: At Playrix, artists aren’t just “task-takers.” You are a full partner whose opinion influences the entire product.
Cutting-Edge Tech: We were pioneers in introducing neural networks into game dev pipelines. You will work with AI tools that handle the “grunt work,” leaving you free to focus on pure creativity.
Flexibility: We evaluate results, not hours. Work from one of our global offices or remotely from anywhere in the world (with the exception of Russia/Belarus).
Growth Trajectory: Whether you want to move into team management or become a high-level “Art Visionary,” we provide the roadmap and the funding for your education (conferences, courses, and language lessons).
Our Perks & Culture
Health: Reimbursement for online therapy sessions and gym memberships/fitness apps.
Education: We pay for your specialized conferences and hold internal “Playrix Cons” for knowledge sharing.
Merch Store: An internal economy with custom currency earned through competitions and hackathons, redeemable for high-end gear and gifts.
Social: Regular offline team meetings and massive corporate parties at exotic locations once travel allows.
