You will work closely with project leadership to define the aesthetic DNA of a new multiplayer world. This is an individual contributor role that involves high-level collaboration with both internal teams and external co-dev/outsourcing partners.
Primary Responsibilities
Design & Iteration: Create high-fidelity concepts for characters, enemies, and environments. You will provide everything from loose sketches for ideation to final, detailed renderings and turnarounds for production.
World Building: Develop detailed renderings of props, flora, and architectural elements that ground the game world in a believable reality.
Mentorship: While an individual contributor, you will provide informal training, guidance, and constructive feedback to junior and mid-level artists on the team.
Pipeline Innovation: Help establish and refine art pipelines to ensure the efficient delivery of high-quality assets across the studio.
Collaborative Style: Work autonomously under pressure, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision while maintaining a “team-first” organizational mindset.
Requirements: The Professional Standard
We are seeking an artist with an exceptional foundation and a “trained eye” for both the natural and industrial worlds.
Experience: 5+ years of progressively complex industry experience, ideally paired with a BA in Art or a related field.
Anatomical Mastery: Exceptional understanding of human and animal anatomy with the ability to render realistic, believable concepts.
Historical & Scientific Knowledge: * Costume Design: Deep understanding of historical human fashion and its application to character design.
Architectural Styles: Solid grasp of global architectural history and the ability to apply these styles to original concepts.
Environmental Science: Understanding of geography, geology, terrain, and flora to create realistic environment concepts.
Industrial & Material Design: Strong understanding of industrial design (function and form) and the ability to render highly realistic materials (metal, cloth, stone, etc.).
Technical Proficiency:
2D Applications: Expert-level Photoshop, Painter, and Illustrator.
3D Applications: Proficiency in Zbrush and Maya/Max to aid in concept ideation.
Motion/Video: Solid understanding of After Effects and Premiere.
