Position Requirement: This role is on-site in Madrid and requires candidates to possess a valid Spanish work permit.
The Role of the 3D Animator
We are seeking skilled and passionate Junior and Mid-Level 3D Animators to create compelling character performances that deeply engage the audience and effectively serve the narrative. Working under the guidance of the Animation Director and senior creative leadership, the Animator will be responsible for bringing characters to life while rigorously adhering to the production’s visual style, pacing, and emotional tone. This position requires active collaboration across multiple departments and strict adherence to the overall animation schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Animation Execution: Animate characters, props, and cameras, ensuring alignment with story, performance, and technical briefs.
- Performance Quality: Apply advanced principles of posing, timing, and spacing to develop authentic and believable character performances, including detailed facial animation and strong body mechanics.
- Story Translation: Effectively translate storyboards and animatics into refined animated sequences, demonstrating a solid understanding of visual composition and cinematic storytelling.
- Collaboration & Feedback: Collaborate actively with Leads, Supervisors, and Directors, professionally receiving and applying creative feedback through block, refinement, and polish stages.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Work effectively within the constraints of character rigs; identify, communicate, and resolve animation-related technical issues by communicating clearly with Rigging, CG, and Production teams.
- Workflow Compliance: Follow the established production schedule, maintain efficiency, and ensure the timely delivery of all assigned shots while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Artistic Alignment: Consistently stay aligned with the artistic vision and animation standards established by the creative leadership.
Candidate Profile
- Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding and demonstrated proficiency in Maya and standard animation workflows within a professional studio production environment.
- Animation Fundamentals: Strong theoretical and practical grasp of animation principles and storytelling techniques.
- Stylistic Versatility: Familiarity with, and the proven ability to adapt to, different animation styles (e.g., stylized, realistic, graphic).
- Specialized Experience: Experience with specialized animation types, such as quadruped animation and/or 2.5D workflows, is highly valued.
- Professional Conduct: Demonstrates strong communication and collaboration skills, working effectively both independently and as a supportive team member.
- Deadline Management: Proven ability to maintain production efficiency and consistently meet deadlines while upholding high animation quality standards.
- Adaptability: Exhibits adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting.
