Job Description: What You Will Do

As a Rigging TD (Rigger), you are crucial to developing the control systems (rigs) that allow digital characters, creatures, props, and vehicles to be animated.

  • Core Role: Design and build high-quality animation rigs for use in feature films.
  • Problem Solver: Find both technical and creative solutions to build the best rigs for the production’s specific needs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Creature Supervisors and Animation Leads to ensure the rigging solutions are the most suitable for the project.
  • Support: Provide ongoing support for the rigs you develop.

Qualifications: What You Need

  • Must Haves (Essential Requirements):
    • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of professional experience working on VFX feature films or in the Gaming industry.
    • Software: Complete proficiency in Maya.
    • Technical Comfort: Comfortable handling the more technical and complex aspects of building character and creature rigs.
    • Programming: Strong programming or scripting skills, with a preference for Python.
    • Artistic Skills: Strong visual judgment and artistic ability.
  • Nice to Haves (Desirable Skills):
    • Pipeline Knowledge: Familiarity with the typical issues and workflows in a post-production environment, especially one that uses many creatures (creature heavy).
    • Facial Rigging: Significant experience specifically in building complex facial rigs.
    • CFX Knowledge: Understanding of Creature FX areas, including setting up cloth, hair, and muscle/skin systems.
    • TD Background: A solid general Technical Director background.
    • Operating Systems: Understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems.
