We are seeking an experienced Modeler, primarily focused on Character Modeling, to join our dynamic Vancouver VFX team on a Fixed Term contract. Job Details at a Glance Detail Information Location Vancouver, BC (Hybrid) Position Type Fixed Term Contract Focus Character Modeling (VFX, Live-Action Feature Films) Required Experience Minimum 3 years of relevant VFX experience Salary Range (Vancouver) $63,000 – $136,000 CAD per annum The Role: Modeler As a Modeler, you will utilize expert poly modeling skills to create high-quality, photorealistic assets—specifically Characters, creatures, digi doubles, vehicles, and environments—with an emphasis on accuracy, detail, and function for live-action feature films. You will be expected to work with the in-house modeling pipeline and solve technical issues independently. Key Responsibilities: Character Creation: Create high-quality Character models and UVs for use in production; implement conceptual design to practical modeling based on review feedback. Pipeline & QA: Work within the defined pipeline, proactively recommend improvements, and QA your own work to ensure the highest quality before handing off assets. Collaboration: Ensure continuity and support other asset departments, including Texture, Rigging, and Surfacing/Lookdev. Problem Solving: Identify potential issues, provide solutions, and escalate as needed. Qualifications & Technical Expertise Experience: Minimum three (3) years of VFX experience modeling photorealistic assets for live-action feature films. Software Mastery: Expert in Maya (capable of high-level troubleshooting). Excellent knowledge of Zbrush and/or Mudbox. Mari knowledge is a plus. Technical Understanding: Excellent technical troubleshooting skills and problem-solving abilities. Strong understanding of the rigging process and displacement map workflow. Character Specifics (Preferred): Experience working on creatures, digi doubles, topology, and blend shapes. Work Style: Demonstrated ability to take design from ambiguous to full implementation. Excellent time management, prioritization skills, and ability to work under tight deadlines. Compensation The base salary range for this position in Vancouver, BC is $63,000 – $136,000 per year. Compensation will be determined based on your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
