The Opportunity: Senior Animator (Short-Term Contract)
The Senior Animator will leverage extensive experience to ensure the highest quality of animation output across projects:
- Execution: Create high-quality animation that meets the creative and technical brief under the direction of Animation Supervisors and Leads.
- Collaboration & Problem-Solving: Proactively work with the animation team and supervisors to identify, debug, and resolve complex technical and artistic challenges.
- Pipeline Coordination: Liaise effectively with other production team members (e.g., Rigging, Layout) to ensure efficient delivery and adherence to production deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Animator will leverage extensive experience to ensure the highest quality of animation output across projects:
- Execution: Create high-quality animation that meets the creative and technical brief under the direction of Animation Supervisors and Leads.
- Collaboration & Problem-Solving: Proactively work with the animation team and supervisors to identify, debug, and resolve complex technical and artistic challenges.
- Pipeline Coordination: Liaise effectively with other production team members (e.g., Rigging, Layout) to ensure efficient delivery and adherence to production deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in live-action VFX production.
- Core Software: Expertise in Maya (required).
- Foundational Mastery: An exceptional understanding of animation fundamentals: acting, staging, posing, weight, timing, and storytelling, coupled with the ability to maintain the model’s integrity.
- Cinematic Expertise: A strong understanding of the language of the camera (framing, perspective, lenses, coverage, continuity, camera movement, blocking, etc.).
- Motion Capture: Demonstrated experience working with MoCap (Motion Capture) data.
- Attitude: A positive attitude and the ability to smoothly adapt to changes in project scope or creative direction.
- Technical Acumen: Ability to debug technical problems and follow up for assistance efficiently.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Familiarity with additional software such as Nuke and 3Ds Max (a plus).
- Background or experience in fine arts, showing a thorough understanding of physical motion, weight, and balance.
- Knowledge of human and animal anatomy and strong life drawing skills.
- Prior experience in Previs (Pre-visualization).
- A Degree and/or Diploma in Animation or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
