Role Level Hourly Rate (CAD) Weekly (40 hrs) Annualized Equivalent Mid-Level Entry $32.31 $1,292.40 $67,204.80 Mid-Level Established $38.00 $1,520.00 $79,040.00 Mid-Level Senior Range $43.71 $1,748.40 $90,916.80 Your Role and Impact As a Mid DMP Artist, you hold a vital role in our pipeline, responsible for creating photorealistic digital matte paintings and environments that serve as the backbone for cinematic world-building. Your work will involve seamlessly integrating these paintings into live-action footage and CG elements. Key Responsibilities: Environment Creation: Design and execute high-quality digital matte paintings for various shots, including expansive environments, complex set extensions, and nuanced atmospheric effects. Collaborative Development: Partner closely with the VFX Supervisor, Compositing Supervisor, and other department leads to develop and maintain the visual look of the production. Technical Execution: Work from a variety of sources, including concept art, reference images, and on-set photography, to ensure every integration is seamless and believable. Pipeline Consistency: Maintain a high standard of style and quality consistency across all assigned shots, ensuring that your work fits perfectly within the broader project aesthetic. Optimization: Ensure all images and assets are optimized for performance and smooth integration within the studio’s VFX pipeline. Workflow Management: Meet rigorous project milestones and deadlines while delivering high-quality work within the established budget. Technical Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues independently or in collaboration with the technical team. Professional Growth: Stay informed on the latest DMP techniques, software updates, and emerging technologies to keep our studio at the cutting edge. Qualifications & Technical Requirements as DMP Artist We are looking for an artist who possesses a deep understanding of the fundamental principles of art—perspective, composition, lighting, and color—and can apply them to complex digital environments. Required Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of proven experience as a DMP Artist within a professional production environment (Commercials, Film, or TV). A strong portfolio or demo reel that demonstrates a high level of artistic skill and technical proficiency in creating photorealistic environments. Software Proficiency: Expert Knowledge: Adobe Photoshop, Nuke, and Maya. Preferred Tools: Experience with Blender, Mari, or equivalent software suites. Advanced Assets: Professional experience with 3D projection and camera mapping techniques. Rendering (Asset): Knowledge of rendering software such as Redshift, Houdini, or Karma is considered a significant advantage. Soft Skills: Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Teamwork: The ability to take direction positively and collaborate effectively within a diverse team of artists. Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
