The Role: Orchestrating the Visual Effects Pipeline

At DNEG, the Line Producer provides the detailed structural framework for a project. You are responsible for translating the broad vision of the VFX Producer and Supervisors into granular, actionable tasks for our artists and coordinators. Your focus is on the short-to-medium-term execution, ensuring every department is synchronized and every milestone is met.

  • Strategic Resource Planning: Partner with the VFX Producer, Supervisors, and Heads of Department (HODs) to plan resources and develop effective approaches to the VFX work across various sequences.
  • Detailed Scheduling: Create and frequently adapt highly detailed delivery plans that account for the complexities of 3D builds, animation, FX, and compositing.
  • Team Leadership: Work closely with Production Coordinators to ensure the schedule remains on track, identifying potential bottlenecks before they impact delivery.
  • Communication Hub: Act as the primary conduit for conveying goals, deadlines, and technical requirements for both shot production and internal R&D projects.
  • Progress Tracking: Maintain and manage internal production databases (ShotGrid/FileMaker) to provide real-time status updates on project health.
  • Client & Artist Liaison: Balance the artistic needs of the supervisors with the logistical constraints of the project, managing artist expectations and client requirements with professional diplomacy.

Professional Requirements: The Production Expert

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Proven Experience: Significant experience working as a Line Producer within a high-pressure, production-driven environment (VFX, Animation, or Post-Production).
  • Project Management Skills: A sophisticated understanding of project management methodologies, specifically tailored to creative industries.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert-level experience with Microsoft Office, with a particular mastery of Excel for data analysis and scheduling.
