Detailed Key Responsibilities 1. Rendering System Architecture & Maintenance The core of the Senior Rendering Engineer job involves high-level systems engineering. Engine Customization: While UE5 provides a robust framework, a “revolutionary” RPG requires bespoke solutions. You will modify and extend Unreal’s rendering pipeline to support unique aesthetic and gameplay requirements. You will collaborate with team members from around the world, all united by a single mission: to create games that go “straight to the hearts of gamers.” Diversity & Ethics in Recruitment CD PROJEKT RED is committed to a fair and ethical recruitment process. The Senior Cinematic Animator job is central to this mission. In this role, you aren’t just moving bones on a rig; you are an actor, a cinematographer, and a technician all in one. The Fable franchise is known for its wit, charm, and emotional depth. As a Senior Animator, your responsibility is to ensure that every smirk, every sword draw, and every dramatic revelation in a cutscene feels grounded, believable, and emotionally resonant. You will be tasked with driving the creative vision from the earliest previsualization (Pre-viz) stages all the way to the final frame of polish that players see on their screens. Detailed Key Responsibilities 1. Advanced Motion Capture & Performance A significant portion of the Senior Cinematic Animator job involves working with high-fidelity data. Capture & Solve: You will oversee the processing of both facial and full-body motion capture data. This involves “solving” the raw data onto the character skeleton while maintaining the original actor’s nuances. Retargeting: Seamlessly applying motion data from actors to a wide variety of character rigs—ranging from heroic humans to fantastical creatures. Performance Polish: While mocap provides the foundation, your “hand-keyed” skills are what bring the scene to life. You will polish facial performances to ensure the eyes and mouth convey the exact subtext required by the script. 2. Cinematic Layout & Visual Storytelling Storytelling in a AAA RPG requires a deep understanding of the camera. Previsualization: Rapidly iterating on cinematic layouts to establish the pacing of a scene. Camera Animation: Managing camera movement to enhance narrative impact, using lenses and framing to guide the player’s eye and evoke specific emotions. Narrative Refinement: Working closely with the Narrative Director to ensure that the visual pacing matches the dialogue and musical score. 3. In-Engine Implementation Unlike film animation, game cinematics must live within a real-time environment. Proprietary Tools: You will implement your animations into Playground Games’ proprietary engine. This requires a technical mindset to ensure that transitions between gameplay and cutscenes are “invisible” to the player. Optimization: Ensuring that cinematic content runs smoothly on Xbox hardware without sacrificing visual fidelity. Required Qualifications & Skills To secure a Senior Cinematic Animator job at a studio of this caliber, candidates must demonstrate a high degree of technical mastery and artistic maturity. AAA Experience: You should have at least five years of professional experience in the games industry, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality cinematics on at least two published titles. Software Proficiency: Expert-level command of industry-standard tools like Autodesk Maya and MotionBuilder. Technical Versatility: Experience in cinematography, film editing, or game engine implementation (Unreal, Unity, or proprietary) is highly desirable and will set you apart from other applicants. Work Environment: Life at Playground Games Playground Games is located in Royal Leamington Spa, a historic town that has become one of the UK’s most significant “Silicon Spa” hubs for game development. This allows Senior Animators to enjoy the collaborative energy of the studio while benefiting from the focus and flexibility of remote work. Compensation and Contract Logistics While this is a contract position, it offers the prestige and resources of a first-party studio. Salary/Rates: For a Senior Cinematic Animator job in the UK, daily rates for contractors often range from £300 to £450 per day, depending on IR35 status and experience. On a pro-rata basis, this aligns with a senior salary range of £55k–£85k+. Relocation: For qualified candidates moving to Leamington Spa, Playground Games offers relocation assistance to make the transition as smooth as possible. Professional Growth: Working on a flagship Xbox title like Fable is a career-defining opportunity that provides immense industry exposure and the chance to work alongside the best talent in the business. Diversity Statistics in the UK Games Industry (Contextual Note) As Playground Games emphasizes its commitment to an inclusive culture, it is worth noting the broader industry context. You are responsible for generating high-quality character, creature, and object animation that integrates seamlessly into live-action visual effects. This role requires a sophisticated blend of artistic sensibility and technical proficiency. In the world of high-end VFX, “good” animation is invisible—it feels like an organic part of the plate. You will work under the direction of Animation Supervisors and Leads to ensure that every performance, whether it is a hyper-realistic creature or a complex mechanical object, meets the rigorous standards of our studio and our global partners. Key Responsibilities High-End Performance: Create top-tier character and creature animation that adheres to the physical laws of the live-action plate while enhancing the narrative. Problem Solving: Collaborate with supervisors and fellow animators to identify and resolve artistic and technical hurdles within the animation pipeline. Production Liaison: Maintain active communication with the broader production team to ensure that internal milestones and client deadlines are met with precision. Technical Debugging: Take a proactive role in debugging technical issues within your scenes and following up with the pipeline or rigging teams for assistance when necessary. Workflow Integration: Transition smoothly between keyframe animation and motion capture (mocap) data integration, ensuring a consistent look and feel across the project. Professional Qualifications & Skills We are looking for seasoned professionals who bring at least five (5) years of live-action production experience to the table. At Eyeline, we believe technology serves artistry, and your foundational skills are the “soul” of our frames. Technical Requirements Software Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of Autodesk Maya is mandatory. Familiarity with Nuke and 3Ds Max is considered a significant asset. Cinematographic Understanding: A profound grasp of the “language of the camera,” including framing, perspective, lens choices, coverage, continuity, and blocking. Anatomy & Motion: A thorough understanding of human and animal anatomy. Experience in life drawing and fine arts is highly desirable, as it informs your understanding of physical motion, weight, and balance. Animation Fundamentals: Advanced knowledge of staging, posing, weight, timing, and the ability to stay strictly “on model” throughout a shot. Pre-visualization: Experience in Previs is a plus, as it allows for a more holistic contribution to the storytelling process during the early stages of production. Soft Skills & Adaptability Collaborative Mindset: A positive attitude and the ability to adapt smoothly to project changes and iterative feedback. Self-Management: The ability to work independently while remaining a vital part of a larger team dynamic. Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to technical glitches and artistic roadblocks. The Eyeline Philosophy: Why Join Us? 1. Netflix-Backed Infrastructure Being part of Eyeline jobs means working within a pipeline that is continuously evolving. The Netflix investment allows us to experiment with breakthrough technologies in virtual production and VFX that few other studios can access. You will be at the “tip of the spear” regarding industry innovation. 2. Artistry Above All At Eyeline, we don’t believe in replacing artists with technology. We believe in empowering them. Our culture is built on deepening the creative connection between the animator and the frame. Your hand-crafted precision is what makes our cinematic visions “bold” and “at scale.” 3. The “Come As You Are” Initiative We are looking for individuals who are driven by a passion for their craft. Eyeline is committed to fair and equal treatment. We value diversity of thought and experience, looking solely at your qualifications and your drive to innovate. 4. Living in Vancouver Vancouver is a global hub for the VFX industry. By joining our Vancouver team, you are positioning yourself at the heart of a thriving community of artists. Our hybrid model allows you to enjoy the stunning natural beauty of British Columbia while remaining connected to our high-energy studio environment. Technical Deep-Dive: The Senior Animator’s Toolkit In Eyeline jobs, a Senior Animator must think like a physicist and act like a performer. Your daily tasks involve calculating the invisible forces that make a digital creature feel “real” in a real-world environment. Physics of Motion: You will calculate the Momentum ($p$) and Inertia of large-scale creatures to ensure their movements have the appropriate “heft.” $$p = m \cdot v$$ Where mass ($m$) and velocity ($v$) must be visually represented through timing and spacing to convince the audience of the creature’s scale. Lens Matching: You will work closely with plate data to ensure that your animation accounts for the specific Focal Length used on set, preventing “sliding” and ensuring the … Read more

With a legacy rooted in creativity and a future focused on international expansion, we are the creative engine behind some of the most anticipated projects in the industry. From the epic world-building of the Avatar: The Last Airbender feature film to the high-octane energy of Netflix’s Ghostbusters and Stranger Things animated series, and the evocative artistry of Shaun Tan’s Tales From Outer Suburbia, we handle stories that matter. We are currently seeking a Senior 3D Character Modeler to join our dynamic team in Madrid. This is a role for an artist who possesses a “master’s eye” for silhouette, a deep understanding of anatomical deformation, and a passion for the graphic, mature stylization seen in landmarks like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Arcane. II. The Flying Bark Creative Vision At Flying Bark Productions, we don’t aim for generic realism. We aim for Graphic Stylization. Our productions are heavily influenced by the “painterly” and “illustrated” trends currently redefining the medium. We are looking for a Modeler who can take a two-dimensional art department reference and translate it into a three-dimensional form that maintains its “soul” from every angle. As a Senior Character Modeler, you are the architect of the production’s most vital assets. You aren’t just building meshes; you are creating the physical presence of characters that will be beloved by millions. You will be responsible for executing complex modeling of characters and creatures, with a particular focus on advanced proxy models that guide the look development process from the earliest stages. III. Detailed Core Responsibilities This role demands a blend of artistic intuition and technical rigor. You will lead by example, ensuring that every asset that leaves your workstation is a masterclass in efficiency and aesthetic appeal. 1. Organic and Hard Surface Construction You will construct both organic (characters/creatures) and hard-surface (armor/mechanical) models that remain fanatically faithful to the Director’s vision. You must possess the ability to define the 3D form and 2D silhouette with such precision that the intent of the Art Department is never compromised. 2. Advanced Creature Work A key focus of this role is the creation and movement of non-biped creatures. We need an expert who understands how quadruped or multi-limbed creatures move, ensuring that the topology is optimized for complex deformations that feel natural yet stylized. 3. Technical Integrity & Performance Topology Mastery: You will reconcile technical requirements with artistic needs, ensuring efficient use of geometry and an appropriate level of detail for feature-quality work. Deformation & Rendering: You are responsible for creating topology suitable for high-end deformation, UV layouts that are artist-friendly, and meshes that render flawlessly in the pipeline. Studio Standards: You will ensure all assets meet Flying Bark Productions conventions regarding user-friendliness, data integrity, and robustness. 4. Pipeline Integration & Support Maya & Sculpting Workflows: You will be self-sufficient in maintaining the “round-trip” workflows between Maya and digital sculpting packages like Z-Brush or Mudbox. Cross-Departmental Dialogue: You will maintain a constant dialogue with Technical Directors, Riggers, and Animators. You understand that your model is the starting point for their work, and you proactively ensure your assets are “rigger-ready.” Milestone Management: You are responsible for meeting weekly departmental milestones and production deadlines, communicating any potential risks to the production team immediately. IV. About You: Professional Qualifications We are seeking a seasoned veteran of the animation industry. While technical skills are vital, we place a high value on your artistic “eye.” Experience: You have 7+ years of production experience specifically in Animated Features or Episodic Animation. (Please note: We are seeking candidates with an animation background rather than live-action VFX). The Stylized Portfolio: We are looking for portfolios that showcase mature, graphic stylization. If your work resonates with the aesthetic of Arcane, The Witness (Love, Death, Robots), or Entergalactic, you will be an ideal fit. Procedural Proficiency: Experience in Houdini procedural modeling is highly preferred, as we continue to evolve our technical pipeline. Anatomical Foundation: Despite the stylization, you must have a rock-solid sense of traditional anatomy and proportion. You know the rules of nature well enough to break them artistically. Soft Skills: You possess excellent communication skills and a willingness to share information. In our studio, “knowledge silos” don’t exist; we grow together. V. Why Work With Flying Bark Productions Madrid? Flying Bark Productions is world-renowned for its culture. Our employees frequently cite our studio environment as the best they have ever experienced. Iconic Projects: Work on IPs that are part of the cultural zeitgeist. You will be able to say you helped bring the new Avatar or Stranger Things to life. Hybrid Freedom: We value the synergy of the studio but respect your personal time. Our 3/2 hybrid model offers the best of both worlds. The “Kulture Klub”: From cake days and movie nights to massive wrap parties, our social calendar is designed to keep the team inspired and connected.
