Key Responsibilities as UI Artist

As a UI Artist, your daily operations will bridge aesthetic asset creation with hands-on technical engine integration:

1. Visual Design & Asset Production

  • End-to-End Asset Creation: Author high-fidelity user interface art, vector icons, panel frames, and decorative elements that elevate the game’s overall presentation.
  • Component System Architecture: Build and maintain shared UI asset libraries, style sheets, and UI component systems that enable the studio to rapidly construct performant new features.
  • Live Ops Design: Concept and deliver tailored UI screens specifically for live operations, including event storefronts, limited-time purchase flows, and battle pass layouts.

2. Unity Implementation & Optimization

  • Hands-on Engine Assembly: Drive layout integration directly inside Unity, demonstrating mastery over Canvas systems, prefab management, anchoring layouts, and asset atlasing optimization.
  • UI Animation: Design and implement smooth UI transitions, state-change animations, button highlights, and interactive menu behaviors within the engine.
  • Mobile Form-Factor Optimization: Verify that all menus dynamically scale across varying aspect ratios, preserve optimal touch target sizing, and stay well within memory and performance budgets.

3. Collaborative Testing & Iteration

  • Wireframe Translation: Partner closely with UX designers, systems designers, and engineers to seamlessly transform structural wireframes and technical specs into polished, implementation-ready menus.
  • Rapid UI Prototyping: Process constructive internal feedback, stakeholder notes, and live playtest data to rapidly iterate on menus for maximum player readability and ease of use.

  • Live Ops Frameworks: Practical experience designing menu matrices for live games, with an emphasis on reward tracks, progression loops, and complex in-game economies.
  • Adaptability & Ownership: Comfort operating within a close-knit, highly dynamic studio environment where creative domains overlap and team members hold broad project responsibility.
