As a Lighting and Shading Artist at Serviceplan, you are the final arbiter of visual quality before an asset goes live. Your core operational responsibilities will include:

Visual Execution & Look Development

  • Asset Look-Dev: Develop, manage, and meticulously optimize 3D assets inside Unreal Engine to produce high-fidelity stills and cinematic sequences that map directly to the Art Director’s creative vision.
  • Real-Time Balance: Fine-tune complex lighting configurations, global illumination settings, and custom ray-tracing features to secure stunning visual results without compromising real-time processing constraints.
  • PBR Material Creation: Build, script, and implement advanced Physically Based Rendering (PBR) materials, shaders, and master material instances that accurately represent real-world physical properties (metallic, roughness, clear coat, etc.).

Pipeline & Team Collaboration

  • Workflow Enhancement: Partner directly with our internal development team to systematically review, upgrade, and optimize our proprietary CGI pipelines and real-time production workflows.
  • Quality Assurance: Take absolute technical and aesthetic ownership of your assigned assets, ensuring error-free integration and robust performance within the master scene file.
  • Team Alignment: Work in close synchronization with a growing, highly motivated collective of CG artists, technical directors, and project leads to hit ambitious milestone deliverables.

Production Experience & Core Technical Competencies

  • Industry Track Record: You possess at least 4+ years of production experience, with a clear, verified emphasis on high-end automotive visualization or premium product rendering.
  • Software Mastery: You have proven, production-tested experience as a lighting and shading professional within Unreal Engine, complemented by a strong operational command of core DCC software such as Maya, 3ds Max, or V-Ray.
  • PBR Shading Expertise: Deep knowledge of real-time material systems, texture mapping, UV space layouts, and material instance parenting architectures within Unreal Engine.
  • Pipeline Literacy: You are highly familiar with complex CGI pipeline methodologies, asset tracking systems, and automated data import/export workflows.
  • DOP/Photography Bonus: Prior professional experience or a strong background as a photographer or Director of Photography (DoP) is considered a distinct creative advantage, particularly regarding lighting layouts, lens physics, and camera exposure.
