Creative Compositing & Look Finalization
- Artistic Look Execution: Utilize Foundry Nuke to construct complex, high-end composites that fulfill the creative standards, mood, and visual style of the film as advised by the Compositing Supervisor.
- Visual Enhancements: Proactively devise creative solutions to enhance shots without overshadowing the core story points or underlying character animation. This includes the strategic addition of atmospheric effects (atmos), vignettes, custom depth of field, and lens anomalies.
- Aesthetic Continuity: Tackle individual shots with a high degree of artistic autonomy, keeping a rigorous eye on sequence continuity while taking individual responsibility for the final aesthetic look of the frames.
- Multi-Dimensional Integration: Seamlessly combine 2D, CG, and 2.5D elements, displaying a comprehensive understanding of the structural behaviors and limitations within both 2D and 3D animation pipelines.
Data Management, Organization & Pipeline Optimization
- Data Integrity: Maintain an organized and methodical workflow while dealing with large volumes of shots, showing absolute precision across render management, file tracking, and version control.
- Script Cleanliness: Produce final production-ready scripts characterized by neat, logical, and well-labeled node networks. Ensure all file referencing paths point strictly to correct network locations within easy-to-navigate filing architectures.
- Upstream Collaboration: Maintain proactive, transparent, and fluid communication with upstream departments (such as Lighting, FX, and Matte Painting) and production coordinators to ensure the efficient, timely delivery of required animation layers to the compositing script.
- Pipeline Collaboration: Coordinate directly with the dedicated Pipeline and Technical Director teams to provide actionable feedback, aiding in the continuous improvement and structural implementation of the studio’s compositing pipeline.
Teamwork & Production Integration
- Directorial Feedback: Actively participate in review sessions, take constructive creative direction from Supervisors and Leads, and seamlessly address specific artistic notes across all assigned shots.
- Time Allocation Management: Self-manage personal production schedules and time allocations effectively, ensuring all milestone deliverables are reliably hit without sacrificing quality.
- Visual Literacy: Leverage a superior eye for composition, color balance, focal depth, mood, and cinematic lighting to elevate the overall production value of every sequence.
Experience and Qualifications as Nuke Compositor

Technical & Artistic Requirements:
- Studio Experience: A minimum requirement of 4+ years of professional, production-proven experience compositing within 3D animated feature films and/or high-end animated episodic series.
- Software Mastery: In-depth, expert production knowledge of Foundry Nuke and its associated node-based workflows.
- Stylized Portfolio Preferences: Portfolios and showreels showcasing a mature, graphic stylization of reality are highly preferred. We are actively targeting aesthetics somewhat in the vein of groundbreaking works like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Entergalactic, Arcane, and The Witness (Love, Death + Robots).
- Cinematic Foundations: A superior, highly refined eye for composition, color theory, photographic mood, and physical lighting behaviors, combined with a deep understanding of film color spaces, lut management, and grading procedures.
- Pipeline Acumen: Solid knowledge of CG render passes, multi-channel EXR management, matte generation, and structural integration of mixed assets (2D/CG/2.5D).
