The Mission: Why This Role Matters

In the world of game development, Game Production Intern is the connective tissue that holds vision and execution together. At Riot, being a Producer means more than just managing a schedule; it’s about removing obstacles, fostering a creative environment, and ensuring that every decision we make prioritizes the “Player Experience.”

As a Game Production Intern, you aren’t just a fly on the wall. You are an active participant in the machine that keeps League of Legends fresh for millions of players. You will report to the Senior Manager of Game Production and support the local Singapore team in executing high-impact content workstreams. Whether it’s coordinating a critical creative review or ensuring our external vendors have what they need to succeed, your work directly enables the “magic” of game dev to happen without friction.

Key Responsibilities as Game Production Intern

Your day-to-day will be dynamic, hands-on, and focused on operational excellence. We’ve broken down your journey into three primary pillars:

1. Production Coordination & Team Rituals

At Riot, “rituals” are the structured meetings and checkpoints that keep us aligned. You will:

  • Partner with Producers: Act as a right-hand to senior production staff to track workstreams, identify bottlenecks, and ensure the team is hitting its milestones.
  • Facilitate Creative Reviews: Help organize and document feedback during art, design, and gameplay reviews, ensuring that action items are clearly communicated to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Playtest Management: Coordinate the logistics of playtesting. This involves scheduling sessions, setting up the necessary hardware/software builds, and consolidating player feedback into actionable data for the dev team.

2. Operations & Tool Mastery

Modern game production relies on a robust suite of tools. You will be responsible for the “health” of our project management ecosystems:

  • Backlog & Sprint Maintenance: Regularly update and maintain tickets in Jira, ensuring that tasks are correctly categorized and statuses are current.
  • Knowledge Management: Help build and refine our internal “Knowledge Hubs” (Confluence/Notion). You will document processes, create “How-To” guides for the team, and ensure that our production secrets are accessible and organized.
  • External Coordination: Assist in managing communication with external vendors and partners, ensuring that assets are delivered on time and meet Riot’s high-quality standards.

3. Team Culture & Logistics

Riot Games believe that a happy, cohesive team makes better games. You will support the “heart” of the studio by:

  • Event Planning: Organizing team-building activities, offsites, and celebratory events for successful content launches.
  • Logistics & Swag: Managing the distribution of team-specific merchandise and ensuring the physical (or virtual) workspace remains a high-energy, collaborative environment.

Who You Are: Qualifications for Game Production Intern

Riot Games is looking for a rare blend of organizational discipline and genuine gaming passion.

The Must-Haves (Required):

  • Academic Status: You are currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or non-degree program and are on track to graduate during the 2027 calendar year.
  • Commitment: You can commit to a 9-to-12-month full-time internship. This is a deep-immersion role, not a short summer stint.
  • Organizational Prowess: You are the person who has the color-coded calendar and the perfectly organized digital folders. You have a keen eye for detail that others might miss.
  • Communication: You can explain complex ideas clearly and aren’t afraid to ask “Why?” or “How can I help?” You have a proactive, “can-do” attitude.
  • Adaptability: Game development is unpredictable. You need to be comfortable with shifting priorities and a fast-paced environment.
  • League Obsession: You don’t just play League of Legends; you understand its ecosystem, its champions, and its community.

The Nice-to-Haves (Desired):

  • Tool Proficiency: Previous experience with Jira, Airtable, Notion, or Google Sheets (using formulas and complex trackers).
  • Team Experience: A history of working in team-based environments, whether that’s a competitive sports team, a university club, or a group project in a coding bootcamp.
  • Strategic Interest: A deep-seated interest in the “business” of games—how live services operate, how games stay relevant for decades, and how global operations function.

Life at Riot: The Perks of Being a “Rioter”

While this is a contract Game Production internship, you are a member of the Riot family. We provide an environment designed to help you grow as a professional and a gamer.

  • Mentorship: You will be paired with seasoned Producers who have years of experience shipping global hits.
  • The “Play Fund”: Rioters are encouraged to play games. We provide stipends (pro-rated for interns) to help you expand your personal library and stay connected to what players love.
  • Learning & Development: Access to internal workshops, “Thunderdome” (our 48-hour internal hackathon), and global knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Authentic Culture: No suits, no corporate fluff. We are a company of gamers who care about the craft.

The Production Pipeline at Riot

To succeed in this role, it helps to understand the cycle you will be supporting. Production at Riot follows a rigorous yet flexible lifecycle:

  1. Pre-Production: Defining the “Player Value” of a new skin, champion, or game mode.
  2. Production: The “Meat” of the work—art, engineering, and design coming together.
  3. Testing/QA: Ensuring the content is bug-free and feels “balanced.”
  4. Release/Live Ops: Shipping to millions and monitoring the live environment.

Application Instructions

To be considered for this role, please ensure your application includes:
1. A Professional Resume: Highlighting your organizational experience and any relevant projects.
2. A Cover Letter (Optional but Encouraged): Tell us about your personal relationship with League of Legends. Why do you want to build games? What was a moment in League that truly “delighted” you as a player?
3. Proof of Enrollment: Documentation showing your expected graduation date in 2027.

Note on Relocation: Riot Games does not offer relocation packages for this position. Candidates must be currently residing in Singapore or able to relocate at their own expense, and must possess the legal right to work in Singapore without sponsorship.

For this role, you’ll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We don’t just look at your GPA; we look at your potential to embody “Player Empathy.” If you care deeply about how a player feels when they log in to see a new update, you are the person we are looking for.
