
Based in the beautiful Canary Island of Tenerife, Atlantis Animation is seeking passionate Mid and Senior-level Lighting Artists for an 8-month, full-time, on-site contract. In this key role, you will help define and deliver the visual quality for the upcoming animated series ‘Messi and the Giants’, an epic saga co-produced by Sony and broadcasted globally by Disney. Working closely with creative leads and supervisors, you will interpret creative briefs, light and render keyshots and sequences, and troubleshoot technical render issues in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate brings a proven professional track record on fully 3D animated series or feature films, strong mastery of industry-standard tools like Arnold and Nuke, and excellent collaboration skills to work alongside the compositing and production teams. Main Responsibilities
- Creative Execution: Work closely with Creative Leads and Supervisors to interpret and execute the visual goals of the project within established tools and pipelines.
- Shot Production: Light and render master keyshots first, followed by remaining CG shots within a sequence, ensuring high-quality, visually appealing results that align with the Supervisor’s vision.
- Visual Continuity: Maintain strict lighting, color, and mood consistency across entire shots and sequences.
- Optimization & Troubleshooting: Optimize and troubleshoot lighting and rendering issues in a fast-paced production environment.
- Budget Management: Ensure render times remain optimized and strictly within the allocated production budget limits.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the Compositing team to seamlessly transition shots from lighting through to final delivery, while respecting schedules and production quotas defined by the Production team.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
Experience & Seniority
- Mid-Level: 3 to 5 years of professional industry experience.
- Senior-Level: More than 5 years of professional industry experience.
- Production Track Record: Proven professional experience as a Lighting Artist on a fully 3D animated series or feature film is strictly required.
Technical & Artistic Skills
- Creative Translation: Strong ability to interpret and execute complex creative briefs (both verbal instructions and visual references).
- Pipeline Knowledge: Solid understanding of advanced lighting, rendering, and compositing workflows.
- Software Toolset: Practical experience with industry-standard rendering, lighting, and compositing tools—specifically Arnold and Nuke.
- Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the proactive ability to anticipate potential technical or artistic pipeline issues.
Soft Skills & Logistics
- Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively and dependably deliver tasks within production deadlines.
- Communication: Strong communication skills, a collaborative team mindset, and fluency in English (spoken and written).
- Adaptability: Flexible and highly responsive to evolving changes in production needs.
- Legal & Work Status: A valid EU/Spanish work permit is strictly required at the time of application.
- On-Site Availability: Full availability to work 100% on-site in our Santa Cruz de Tenerife studio.
