💼 Position: CG Generalist
About the Role
Dupe VFX is looking for a talented CG Generalist to join our London-based 3D team. In this role, you’ll create photo-real digital assets and environments that meet the highest visual effects standards for film and television.
You should bring a wide range of 3D skills — including modeling, texturing, shading, lighting, rendering, and layout — with a solid understanding of USD and the Houdini Solaris pipeline.
We’re seeking someone creative, analytical, and efficient — a problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative environment and takes pride in both the aesthetic and technical quality of their work.
What You’ll Do
- Assemble models, textures, projections, and lights into CG scenes using Houdini Solaris USD.
- Create high-quality models, textures, and shading/lookdev setups.
- Troubleshoot and optimize CG scenes for efficient rendering.
- Work with VFX and CG Supervisors to develop the look of shots, assets, and sequences.
- Handle lighting, layout, and scene assembly as required.
- Match CG elements seamlessly with plate photography.
- Communicate effectively with production regarding schedules and deadlines.
- Collaborate with other departments to deliver shots at the highest standard.
Required Skills & Experience
✅ Proven experience in feature film or high-end episodic VFX pipelines.
✅ Strong knowledge of Houdini, Maya, Blender, Mari, Substance Painter, Arnold, and Nuke.
✅ Expertise in modeling, UV layout, texturing, lighting, and rendering.
✅ Solid understanding of 3D and 2.5D VFX workflows.
✅ Balanced mix of creative artistry and technical skill.
✅ Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
✅ Strong eye for photo-realism, perspective, and composition.
✅ Experience working with HDRIs, photogrammetry, Lidar, and shoot data.
✅ Ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality and organization.
Nice-to-Have Skills
💡 Experience with volumetric rendering (clouds, atmosphere).
💡 Familiarity with Linux.
💡 Knowledge of VFX scripting (MEL, Python, VEX, etc).
💡 Understanding of photogrammetry and photo-based 3D reconstruction tools.
