Job Description
At DNEG, our Animation Supervisors play a key role in upholding our reputation as one of the world’s leading studios in live-action VFX animation. Working closely with the Head of Animation, you will lead, mentor, and inspire a talented team of animators—ranging from juniors to leads—while ensuring the highest creative and technical standards across all projects.
Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. You’ll work hand-in-hand with directors, VFX Supervisors, and other key departments to bring characters and creatures to life, maintaining performance quality and visual consistency throughout each production.
As an Animation Supervisor, you’ll also coordinate with the Build and Rigging teams to ensure models and rigs meet the animators’ requirements for functionality, performance, and usability. You will act as the main point of contact for all animation-related needs across departments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and mentor a team of animators, fostering creativity and collaboration.
2. Work closely with directors and VFX Supervisors to shape character and creature performances.
3. Ensure animation quality and continuity across shots and sequences.
4. Collaborate with Build and Rigging teams to ensure assets are production-ready.
5. Anticipate and resolve technical or creative challenges during production.
6. Communicate effectively with clients, directors, and internal teams.
Essential Qualifications
1. 10+ years of professional CG experience on high-profile live-action or full-CG feature films.
2. Deep understanding of modern 3D animation technologies and pipelines.
3. Proven leadership experience, including team management and task delegation.
4. Strong communication and client-facing skills, with confidence in presenting ideas.
5. Excellent problem-solving abilities in three-dimensional space and animation workflows.
6. Ability to anticipate potential issues and proactively implement solutions.

Additional Information
This is a unionized position, covered by a forthcoming collective agreement between DNEG and IATSE. Once in effect, union membership and dues will be required, along with access to all benefits outlined in the agreement.
