Key Responsibilities as Senior FX Artist
In this position, your technical expertise and artistic eye will drive the visual impact of major cinematic moments:
1. Complex Simulation Design & Execution
- Hyper-Realistic FX Creation: Develop, simulate, and render photorealistic effects, including but not limited to large-scale destruction (rigid body dynamics), fire, smoke, water, dust, fluids, and custom particle/energy systems.
- Live-Action Integration: Ensure all simulated elements respect the physical laws, lighting environments, camera lenses, and overall integration parameters of live-action film plates.
- Tool & Setup Optimization: Build robust, highly optimized, and scalable simulation setups and procedural tools that can be easily shared with or handed off to mid-level and junior artists on the team.
2. Pipeline Collaboration & Shot Leadership
- Creative Problem Solving: Interpret artistic direction from VFX Supervisors and FX Leads, transforming abstract creative concepts into precise, photoreal digital assets.
- Cross-Department Harmony: Collaborate efficiently with lighting, compositing, and look-development teams to ensure seamlessly pre-composited FX passes hit their targets with all required channels.
- Milestone Execution: Manage individual shot quotas and milestone deadlines independently, maintaining regular communication across our virtual pipeline infrastructure.

- Houdini Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in SideFX Houdini, featuring deep technical knowledge of VEX, Python, HDA development, and core simulation networks (DOPs, POPs, SOPs).
- Traditional Foundations: A strong understanding of real-world physics, fluid dynamics, material fracturing, and cinematic lighting principles.
- Rendering & Look-Dev: Experience setting up lighting and look-development for FX passes using major industry renderers (such as Karma, Mantra, Arnold, or V-Ray).
