The Role: Layout Supervisor We are seeking a seasoned Layout Supervisor with strong artistic sensibility and leadership experience to manage our Layout Team. This is a critical role responsible for translating storyboard vision and visual development into final, production-ready 2D environmental backgrounds. Key Responsibilities (What You Will Do) Team Leadership & Mentorship: Manage and mentor a team of Layout Artists, ensuring continuous skill development and adherence to the show’s style. Provide regular, clear, and concise feedback and upfront direction to the team. Advocate for the team regarding schedule, morale, and quality standards. Maintain a personal, inspiring production quota to set the standard for the team. Artistic & Technical Oversight: Interpret storyboards and visual development to ensure layouts are correctly drawn in perspective, scale, and composition. Review and approve Layouts, Field Guides, and Scaled Character Guides for technical readiness for Scene Planning and Animation. Collaborate closely with the Art Director and Director to solve artistic and technical challenges. Production Management: Maintain the layout production schedule and proactively identify potential issues (technical, staffing, or asset-related). Utilize workflow software (like ShotGrid) to effectively track progress and milestones. Qualifications & Requirements Essential Skills & Experience: Strong background in Layout or environmental visual development for an animated TV series or feature. Expert proficiency in Adobe Photoshop. Strong fundamental knowledge of art, design, and composition specific to animated environments. Prior leadership/supervisory experience managing and mentoring art teams in an animation production setting. Well-founded experience with asset tracking and workflow management systems (e.g., ShotGrid). Solid understanding of the 2D animation pipeline.
