Position Overview
Hampa Studio is expanding its production capabilities for a diverse roster of upcoming animated projects, including high-profile television series and feature-length animated films. To support this growth, we are seeking professional 2D Animation Artists across all seniority levels—from promising, highly motivated Juniors eager to prove their potential, to seasoned, veteran Seniors who possess years of battle-tested production experience.
Operating under the direct supervision of the Animation Supervisor and the Project Director, you will be responsible for translating creative concepts into high-quality, expressive 2D animations that elevate the entire project to the next level. This role demands a unique fusion of vibrant imagination, technical execution, and an uncompromising foundation in the core principles of traditional animation.
Whether you specialize in subtle, nuanced character performances or dynamic, high-energy action sequences, your work will directly define the visual identity and emotional resonance of our upcoming stories. Key Responsibilities as 2D Animation Artist
As a 2D Animation Artist at Hampa Studio, your daily and weekly workflow will encompass a wide array of creative and technical responsibilities tailored to your specific experience level:
1. Animation Production & Creative Execution
- Create, draft, and implement complex, challenging 2D traditional animations based directly on approved production storyboards, animatics, and director notes.
- Infuse characters and scenes with distinct personality, ensuring that movement, weight, expressions, and physical timing align perfectly with the established tone of the project.
- Utilize Toon Boom Harmony to execute clean, structurally sound animation keys, breakdowns, and in-betweens according to the technological specifications of the pipeline.
- Maintain rigorous consistency in character models, proportions, line quality, and artistic style across all assigned shots and sequences, collaborating closely with fellow animators to ensure seamless visual transitions.
2. Pipeline, Organization & Delivery
- Prepare, structure, and organize all working files, scene assets, and final presentation elements precisely according to internal studio naming conventions and technical folder structures to ensure smooth approval pipelines.
- Perform timely, precise, and constructive corrections to animation files as requested by the Animation Supervisor, Animation Director, or client stakeholders.
- Ensure that all delivered animation sequences strictly meet or exceed the predefined technical project requirements, frame rates, resolution specifications, and overarching studio quality benchmarks.
- Proactively flag technical bugs, asset discrepancies, or scheduling bottlenecks to production management or technical directors before they impact delivery timelines.
3. Collaboration & Communication
- Actively participate in remote daily stand-ups, creative reviews, and production briefings to stay aligned with project milestones and artistic directions.
- Act as a supportive, collaborative team player, offering peer feedback where appropriate and fostering an environment of mutual growth and shared knowledge.
- Translate abstract directorial feedback or emotional descriptions into tangible, technical animation adjustments with an open, solution-oriented mindset.

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

- Production Experience: Open to all experience levels.
- For Junior applicants: A highly promising, curated demo reel demonstrating a spectacular understanding of animation fundamentals.
- For Senior applicants: A proven track record featuring multiple years of active production experience on shipped animated feature films, commercial campaigns, or broadcast TV series.
- Software Mastery: Strong, demonstrable proficiency in operating Toon Boom Harmony within a professional production environment.
- Animation Fundamentals: Exceptional, foundational skills in traditional 2D animation techniques, including an absolute mastery of the 12 core principles of animation (squash and stretch, anticipation, staging, straight-ahead vs. pose-to-pose, follow-through, slow-in and slow-out, arcs, secondary action, timing, exaggeration, solid drawing, and appeal).
- Draftsmanship: A thorough, deep understanding of perspective drawing, structural anatomy, and volume control, with the unique ability to maintain character volume consistently across complex 3D-space rotations.
- Artistic Aptitude: An innate, highly developed eye for organic movement, physical weight, fluid timing, acting, and character posing.
Required Soft Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain clarity and transparency across remote communication channels (such as Slack, Zoom, or Discord).
- Strong organizational habits and self-discipline, allowing you to manage deadlines effectively without needing continuous in-person micro-management.
