The Mission: Driving Delivery in a AAA Environment
World of Tanks: HEAT is a complex ecosystem. Our teams own the core gameplay systems—hero abilities, agent creation, combat mechanics, and diverse game modes. We are building the systems that make moment-to-moment gameplay feel responsive, weighty, and strategically deep.
In this role, you will act as a Force Multiplier. You work alongside Feature Owners and multidisciplinary squads to ensure that development remains predictable, efficient, and transparent. You navigate the inherent complexity of gameplay development, where rapid design iterations must coexist with strict technical constraints and the high expectations of a global player base.
Key Responsibilities & Impact
1. Strategic Planning & Delivery Management
- Release Orchestration: You will own the planning of iterations and release scopes, balancing product priorities against real-time team capacity.
- Roadmapping: Shape quarterly roadmaps and monthly release cycles, ensuring that bi-weekly iterations are realistic, stable, and deliverable.
- Risk Mitigation: You are the early-warning system. You identify risks before they become blockers and drive proactive mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.
- Estimation Excellence: Facilitate the estimation process, helping teams find the most efficient implementation paths for complex product requirements.
2. Process Optimization & Facilitation
- Ceremony Mastery: Run core team ceremonies, including refinements, sprint planning, and retrospectives. Your goal is to make these sessions high-value and action-oriented.
- Feature Lifecycle Support: Guide features through the lifecycle phases—from initial Concept to Prototyping and finally into Full Production.
- Metrics-Driven Decisions: Track and analyze delivery metrics such as throughput, cycle time, defect counts, and velocity. You use this data to drive informed decisions rather than relying on guesswork.
- Continuous Improvement: Constantly scan the delivery pipeline for bottlenecks and iterate on the team’s ways of working to improve flow and quality.
3. Coordination & Communication
- Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders. You manage expectations, report on trade-offs, and help stakeholders refine priorities based on technical reality.
- Dependency Management: In a scaled environment, dependencies are everywhere. You will facilitate cross-team synchronization to ensure alignment without creating unnecessary overhead.
- Conflict Resolution: Foster a high-performance environment by resolving internal conflicts and ensuring the team remains focused on shared goals.
The Candidate Profile
We are looking for a project management professional who understands that in game development, “how” we build is just as important as “what” we build.
Core Requirements
- Proven Track Record: At least 4+ years of experience as a Delivery Manager, Producer, or Project Manager within the gaming industry.
- Full Lifecycle Experience: You have seen games through the entire journey—from the first “blue sky” concept to worldwide release and live operations.
- Servant Leadership Mindset: You view your role as an enabler. You don’t direct the team; you remove the obstacles in their path so they can sprint.
- Facilitation Skills: You can walk into a room of tired developers and lead a planning session that feels useful, clarifying, and motivating.
- Hybrid/Distributed Expertise: Experience managing multicultural teams across different time zones or in hybrid office/remote setups.
- Communication Mastery: The ability to translate “technical debt” into “business impact” for stakeholders and vice versa.
Bonus Skills (Standing Out)
- Gameplay Production Expertise: Specific experience managing the production of hero kits, combat mechanics, or competitive game modes.
- Agile at Scale: Background in scaled agile frameworks such as LeSS or SAFe.
- Personal Gaming Passion: A deep personal interest in vehicle-based shooters or competitive multiplayer games. Understanding our players starts with being a player.
- Technical Familiarity: A solid grasp of game development pipelines, particularly the transition from rapid prototyping to production-ready code.
What This Role Is NOT
To ensure clarity, it is important to note the boundaries of this position. This role focuses on delivery and execution excellence.
- You do not own the product backlog or final prioritization (Product Ownership).
- You do not define feature scope or requirements.
- You do not make the final design or technical decisions.
- You do not directly manage the team as a functional lead (Hiring/Firing/Performance Reviews).
