We are currently on the hunt for a highly skilled and passionate Mid-level Asset Artist to join our elite 3D department. This role is designed for a versatile artist who possesses a deep understanding of the aesthetic and technical requirements of modern VFX. You will be responsible for breathing life into digital objects, ensuring they look as tangible and real as the world around us.

The ideal candidate is an expert in the trifecta of asset creation: Modeling, Texturing, and Grooming. You should be comfortable navigating the complexities of a fast-paced VFX production pipeline, demonstrating a keen eye for detail and a robust understanding of how assets behave under various lighting conditions and physical simulations. From hero props that demand extreme close-ups to expansive environment modules, your work will form the physical foundation of our digital worlds.

1. High-Fidelity Asset Creation

• Modeling: Construct intricate 3D assets ranging from complex hard-surface machinery and vehicles to organic set dressings and environmental elements.
• Topology & Flow: Ensure all models possess “clean” production-ready topology that supports both high-resolution displacement and efficient deformation for animation.
• Grooming: Utilize industry-standard tools to create realistic fur, hair, and instanced vegetation, ensuring natural flow and physical accuracy for creatures or environments.

2. Texturing & Look Development

• PBR Mastery: Develop sophisticated Physically Based Rendering (PBR) materials that react accurately to light.
• Surfacing: Create detailed texture maps (Base Color, Roughness, Metallic, Normal, Displacement) that tell a story—incorporating wear, tear, age, and environmental history into every asset.
• UV Optimization: Execute efficient UV layouts to maximize texel density and minimize seam visibility, ensuring assets are ready for high-resolution 4K or 8K workflows.

3. Pipeline Integration & Optimization

• Efficiency: Balance visual “wow factor” with technical performance, optimizing polycounts and texture memory to ensure assets render smoothly within the studio’s farm.
• Inter-Departmental Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with the Lighting and Look Dev teams to ensure shaders translate perfectly across shots, and coordinate with FX and Layout to ensure technical compatibility.
• Standardization: Adhere strictly to internal naming conventions, folder structures, and versioning protocols to maintain a seamless data flow within our global pipeline.

4. Mentorship & Quality Control

• Feedback Loops: Actively participate in dailies, implementing feedback from Leads and VFX Supervisors with precision and a positive attitude.
• Consistency: Take ownership of the visual continuity of assets across an entire sequence, ensuring that a prop looks the same in Shot A as it does in Shot Z.

• Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional experience as a 3D Asset Artist specifically within a VFX, Feature Animation, or High-end Cinematic studio.
• Software Proficiency: * Modeling: Expert-level knowledge of Autodesk Maya (preferred), Blender, or 3ds Max.
• Sculpting: High-level proficiency in ZBrush for organic detailing and high-poly baking.
• Texturing: Advanced skills in Substance 3D Painter and Mari for multi-tile (UDIM) workflows.
• Rendering: A solid grasp of VFX render engines such as Arnold, V-Ray, or Redshift, including an understanding of AOVs and shader construction.
• The “VFX Eye”: A deep-seated understanding of real-world scale, physics, and material properties. You should be able to look at a reference photo of rusted iron or weathered leather and know exactly how to replicate that tactile feel in a digital environment.
• Problem Solving: The ability to troubleshoot technical issues within the 3D software and adapt to new proprietary tools or workflow changes.

Your portfolio is the most critical part of your application. We are looking for quality over quantity. Please ensure your submission includes:

• A Demo Reel: Showcasing completed assets as they appear in final shots or high-quality turntables.
• Breakdowns: We love to see the “how.” Include wireframes, UV layouts, texture set previews, and raw sculpts.
• Realism Focus: Examples of photorealistic assets are mandatory. Show us your ability to match digital assets to live-action plates.
• Documentation: A brief description of your role on each project shown in your reel.
