The Core Mission

As a 3D Modeler at Mighty Studio, your primary objective is to translate 2D vision into 3D reality. You will be the architect of the project’s visual assets, ensuring that every model—from a hero character to a background crate—is high-fidelity, production-ready, and technically sound.

You are expected to be more than a “button pusher.” We value artists who understand the physics of the real world and can translate that into digital form. Whether you are sculpting organic muscle tissue in ZBrush or hard-surface mechanical parts in Maya, your work must be optimized for a fast-paced production pipeline where “good enough” is never the standard.

Detailed Responsibilities

1. Digital Asset Sculpting & Construction

  • Conceptual Fidelity: Interpret 2D concept art, turnarounds, and mood boards to create 3D assets that align perfectly with the Art Director’s vision.
  • Organic & Hard-Surface Modeling: Create a wide range of assets, including high-poly character sculpts, complex architectural environments, and detailed mechanical props.
  • Silhouette & Form: Prioritize strong silhouettes and readable shapes that stand out in various lighting conditions.

2. Technical Optimization & Pipeline Health

  • Clean Topology: Build models with efficient edge loops and quad-based geometry to ensure seamless deformation during the rigging and animation stages.
  • Polygon Budgeting: Maintain a strict balance between visual detail and performance, ensuring assets meet the technical constraints of the engine or rendering software.
  • UV Mapping Excellence: Execute professional UV unwrapping with a focus on minimizing seams, preventing stretching, and maximizing texel density. Mastery of UDIM workflows is highly preferred.

3. Collaboration & Feedback Loops

  • Interdepartmental Synergy: Work alongside Texture Artists to ensure UVs are optimal for painting and with Riggers to ensure geometry supports the necessary range of motion.
  • Asset Management: Adhere to Mighty Studio’s strict naming conventions and folder structures to ensure a smooth hand-off to the lighting and rendering teams.
  • Revision Mastery: Efficiently implement feedback from Supervisors and Art Directors, often within tight production windows.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

Hard Skills & Experience

  • Experience: A minimum of 2–3 years in a production environment (VFX, Feature Animation, or AAA Gaming).
  • Software Proficiency: Expert command of Autodesk Maya or Blender. Advanced knowledge of ZBrush for high-resolution sculpting is essential.
  • Texture Prep: Familiarity with the Substance Suite (Painter/Designer) to ensure models are correctly prepared for the texturing pipeline.
  • Anatomical Knowledge: For character roles, a deep understanding of human and animal anatomy, including how muscles and skin move over bone.

Professional & Soft Skills

  1. Communication: Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly in English. This is vital for our international collaboration.
  2. Time Management: Since this is a remote freelance role, you must be a disciplined self-starter capable of hitting milestones without daily hand-holding.
  3. Quality Obsession: A “pixel-perfect” mindset. You should be your own harshest critic before submitting work for review.

The Mighty Studio Remote Culture

Working with Mighty Studio means joining a culture of excellence. Even though we are remote, we maintain a tight-knit community through:

  1. Digital Dailies: Join virtual sessions to see what other departments are working on and gain a broader perspective on the project.
  2. Advanced Tooling: Access to our proprietary asset management tools and cloud-based pipeline.
  3. Professional Growth: Opportunity to work on high-profile IPs that will significantly bolster your professional reel.

Application Process

To join the Mighty Studio team, please prepare the following:

  1. Portfolio/Reel: This is the most important part of your application. Show us your best work, including wireframe renders and UV layouts.
  2. Software Breakdown: A list of your primary and secondary tools.
  3. Availability: Your current freelance availability and preferred start date.

  1. Hi there!
I’m Yana,a 3D Artist with over 3 years of experience creating props and environments for PC, console, and mobile games. I love building worlds, whether it’s a stylized fantasy tavern or a gritty realistic battlefield.
I’m comfortable with the full pipeline: high/low-poly modeling in Maya/3ds Max/ZBrush, texturing in Substance Painter, and assembling scenes in Unreal Engine 5 or Unity. I also use Marvelous Designer for cloth props and have a good eye for composition, material work, and lighting in-engine.
If you’re looking for someone who can create immersive environments and detailed props from blockout to final polish-let’s talk!
    Best,
    Yana Rashkevich
