Position Overview
CD PROJEKT RED is seeking a world-class Lead Sound Designer to join our Warsaw studio and spearhead the sonic evolution of the next chapter in the legendary Witcher saga. As we transition into a new era of development with Unreal Engine 5, we are looking for a visionary audio leader to drive the sound design team, define the acoustic identity of the Continent, and deliver a breathtaking, narrative-driven RPG experience.

Role Overview
The Lead Sound Designer for The Witcher 4 is responsible for the holistic audio vision of the project. You will bridge the gap between creative intent and technical implementation, ensuring that every clashing sword, rustling forest, and magical incantation feels authentic to the Witcher universe.
You will report to the Audio Director and manage a team of dedicated sound artists, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. Your work will span the entire production lifecycle, from early system design in UE5 and Wwise to the final, cinematic mix that brings our trailers and gameplay to life.
Key Responsibilities as Lead Sound Designer
Strategic Leadership & Team Management
Audio Direction: Lead the Sound Design team in defining and maintaining aesthetic continuity. You will ensure the audio remains true to the “Witcher” DNA while utilizing next-gen technology to evolve the soundscape.
Mentorship & Coaching: Support and coach team members to achieve high-quality results. You will be responsible for their career development, providing regular feedback and fostering a supportive team environment.
Production Planning: Plan, track, and execute audio milestones, sprints, and roadmaps in coordination with Producers to ensure timely delivery of assets.
Technical & Creative Excellence
Sound Design & Mixing: Design, implement, and mix original, high-fidelity sound effects that enhance the narrative and gameplay.
Audio System Design: Collaborate with programmers to design innovative audio systems within Unreal Engine 5 and Wwise, ensuring the sound engine is as advanced as the visual engine.
Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Partner with Music, Voice-Over, and Gameplay teams to create a unified and immersive sonic experience.
Technical Advocacy
Innovation: Stay at the forefront of game audio technology, exploring new methods for spatialization, procedural audio, and dynamic mixing.
Quality Control: Set the bar for technical and creative quality, ensuring that all audio assets are performant and impactful.
Qualifications & Skills for Lead Sound Designer
Required Experience
Industry Tenure: Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the video game industry, with credits on multiple shipped AAA titles.
Leadership Track Record: At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role (Lead, Supervisor, or Director level) specifically within sound design.
Artistic Competence: A stellar portfolio or demo reel demonstrating expertise in sound design for realistic, narrative-driven projects.
Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of Wwise and modern game engines (UE5 experience is a major plus).
Soft Skills
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English skills; the ability to communicate complex audio concepts to non-audio stakeholders.
Collaboration: A proactive, problem-solving approach to design obstacles and cross-disciplinary challenges.
Timeline Management: Proven ability to coordinate with multiple teams and manage large-scale project timelines.
Desired (Nice to Have)
Experience with Spatial Audio (Atmos, 3D Audio, HRTF).
Background in Performance Capture audio integration.
Experience in planning and executing large-scale Field and Foley recording sessions.
