As an intern at ZEILT Productions, you are not just a spectator; you are an integrated member of our creative engine. The series “3, 2, 1, Go!” utilizes a Motion Capture (MoCap) pipeline, which requires a specific set of technical skills and an eye for detail.

Working directly under the Animation Supervisor, your primary missions will include:

  • Animation Cleanup: Refining raw motion capture data to ensure fluidity and weight, removing “jitter” while preserving the performance’s intent.
  • Adaptation: Retargeting and adjusting animations to fit specific character rigs and environments.
  • Facial & Hand Animation: Bringing characters to life by manually animating expressive facial features and intricate hand movements that MoCap often misses.
  • Posing & Acting: Enhancing the key poses of characters to improve silhouette and readability, ensuring the acting meets the high standards of the series.
  • Pipeline Integration: Maintaining organized files within the studio’s Maya-based workflow and adhering to strict naming conventions and delivery schedules.

We are looking for individuals who possess a blend of technical proficiency and artistic intuition. Because this role involves MoCap cleanup, a deep understanding of body mechanics is essential.

Technical Requirements:

  1. Expertise in Autodesk Maya: This is our primary tool. You must be comfortable with the Graph Editor, Trax Editor, and standard rigging/animation controls.
  2. Strong Sense of Rhythm: The ability to time actions and reactions effectively to support the comedic or dramatic pacing of the series.
  3. Artistic Eye for Posing: A solid foundation in traditional animation principles (squash and stretch, anticipation, staging).
  4. Acting Knowledge: Understanding how to convey emotion through movement, even when working with pre-recorded motion data.

Soft Skills:

  • Motivation & Rigor: A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to high-quality output.
  • Team Collaboration: The ability to take feedback from supervisors and work harmoniously with other departments (Rigging, Lighting, Layout).
  • Reliability: Since the internship is in-person in Foetz, punctuality and a professional workplace presence are required.

ZEILT Productions is more than just a workplace; it is an international hub of creativity. We pride ourselves on a human-centric approach to production.

  • Professional Growth: Learn from industry veterans and Academy Award-winning leadership. You will gain hands-on experience in a professional MoCap pipeline, a highly sought-after skill in the modern VFX and gaming industry.
  • Environment: We foster a friendly, multicultural atmosphere. We believe that a positive mood in the studio leads to better art on the screen.
  • Work-Life Balance: While the role is a full 40-hour week, we offer flexible hours where possible to ensure our team stays refreshed and inspired.
  • International Exposure: Work on content intended for a global audience, gaining insight into the European animation market.

Submission Requirements

To be considered for this “Great Adventure,” candidates must provide a comprehensive application package. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

  1. Demo Reel: A video showcasing your best 3D animation work. We are specifically looking for body mechanics, acting, and any previous experience with MoCap cleanup.
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV): Detail your educational background, software proficiencies, and any previous project experience.
  3. Cover Letter: Explain why you want to work specifically at ZEILT Productions and what you hope to achieve during these two months.
  4. Portfolio/Website (Optional): Links to ArtStation, personal blogs, or professional websites are highly encouraged.
  5. Availability: You must clearly state your start and end dates for the summer period.

About the Location: Foetz, Luxembourg

Foetz is a strategic hub within Luxembourg, offering a professional environment with easy access to the capital and neighboring European countries. Luxembourg itself is a burgeoning center for digital media and film production, providing a unique backdrop for an aspiring artist to begin their career.

Important Notes

  • No Apprenticeships: This position is strictly for traditional internships (educational or vocational).
  • On-Site Presence: Remote work is not available for this role. Candidates must be able to commute to or relocate to Luxembourg for the duration of the internship.
  • Language: While the production environment is international, proficiency in English is required; French or German is a significant asset.
