We are looking for an experienced Animation Supervisor to join our team in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
About the Role
The Animation Supervisor holds overall responsibility for the quality, consistency, and compelling nature of all animation on a project, ensuring every performance aligns perfectly with the Director’s creative vision. This is a hybrid role, offering flexibility in work arrangement.
Key Responsibilities
As the Animation Supervisor, you will lead the animation team, ensuring technical excellence and creative integrity across the project:
- Team Leadership: Manage, train, and mentor a team of Animators, setting clear performance benchmarks and providing consistent, high-quality examples.
- Quality Control: Take overall responsibility for the quality of animation produced by the team, ensuring compelling, story-driven, and action-packed moments that fit the film’s style and pacing.
- Pipeline & Rigging Collaboration: Work closely with the Rigging and Pipeline departments, providing constructive feedback and suggestions to improve character setup, visual quality, rig functionality, and tooling.
- Production Management: Collaborate with Animation Leads and Production to ensure ongoing communication regarding team progress, overall responsibility for meeting show milestones, and adhering to strict deadlines.
- Client & Team Reviews: Lead daily reviews with the animation team and represent the department in client reviews.
- Innovation: Remain familiar with new tools, software, data, and related technologies to maintain Framestore’s technical edge.
- Motion Capture: Oversee and integrate work utilizing motion capture data.
What We’re Looking For

| Thorough knowledge of Maya. | Previous experience supervising/leading a team (essential). | A strong grasp of physical motion, weight, balance, texture, and form. |
| Demonstrable understanding of typical rigs, rigging set-ups, animation pipelines, and data transfer. | Excellent organization, communication, interpersonal, and management skills. | Knowledge of human and animal anatomy and life drawing skills. |
| Experience working with motion capture data. | Commitment to creative collaboration across teams. | Attention to detail and superior problem-solving abilities. |
| Adaptability and willingness to learn new processes and technical skills. | Reliable, with good timekeeping and the ability to meet deadlines. |
