Epic Games is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior Technical Animator to join the Art & Animation Department, specifically focusing on the Cinematics team in Cary, United States.
This role is integral to bringing the expressive character movement and visual fidelity of high-profile trailers for Fortnite and other related IP projects to life. What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities
| Category | Core Responsibilities |
| Rigging & Setup | Rig complex characters, props, and vehicles for cinematic quality. Set up assets in Unreal Engine 5 (cloth, physics, Blueprints). |
| Pipeline & Tools | Assist in building and continuously improving pipeline tools. Work with leads on engine tool continuous improvement. |
| Workflow & Support | Collaborate with Modelers and Animators to ensure a smooth development pipeline. Provide support, performance/speed optimizations, and resolve Control Rig/Constraint bugs. |
| Cinematics Focus | Directly oversee Technical Animation work for cinematic trailers (internal and outsourced). Design and implement efficient UI Pickers for the Animation Team. |
What We’re Looking For: Essential Qualifications
| Skill Area | Requirements |
| Experience | Extensive experience rigging characters specifically for and within the Unreal Engine. Proven experience developing character pipelines and tools. |
| Technical Focus | Strong familiarity with the Unreal Engine 5 art pipeline. Attention to aesthetic detail (character deformation and physics movement). |
| Portfolio | A compelling portfolio demonstrating high-quality rigging for a diverse range of subjects (bipeds, creatures, detailed facial rigging). |
| Soft Skills | A proactive and positive individual with exceptional written communication and teamwork skills. Demonstrated ability as an exceptional problem-solver. |
