The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically astute CG Supervisor to join our team in Sydney. In this vital leadership position, you will serve as the crucial link between the creative vision of the Director/VFX Supervisor and the technical execution of our talented CG artists. You will be directly responsible for interpreting and successfully implementing the creative goals for your project while adhering to budgetary requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creative & Technical Leadership: Creatively and technically lead a team of artists, overseeing the production of complex CG assets and the successful delivery of all CG elements for shots on your project.
  • Pipeline Management: Establish an efficient, functioning shot pipeline for the project.
  • Vision Implementation: Interpret the client’s creative vision and effectively translate it into actionable tasks for the internal art team.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Ensure clear and consistent communication flows between artists, production teams, show leads, and supervisors.
  • Client Management: Possess the ability to persuasively present and “sell” creative solutions and ideas to clients.
  • Resource Planning: Contribute to project bidding, crewing, and provide constructive feedback on team members and pipeline efficacy.
  • R&D Engagement: Collaborate closely with R&D teams to provide input, test, and deploy specifications for new tools within a live production environment.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a CG Supervisor or Sequence Supervisor working on high-end live-action VFX projects.
  • Exceptional creative eye and sophisticated aesthetic judgment.
  • Thorough and complete understanding of the entire VFX Pipeline.
  • Expertise in Maya and proficiency with other industry-standard software.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet demanding deadlines under pressure.
  • A strong track record of simplifying complex technical problems into efficient, simple solutions.
