About the Role The Senior FX Artist II will create cinematic-quality effects that breathe life into Blizzard’s most iconic universes. From realistic simulations of smoke, fire, and water to magical and technological FX, you’ll work closely with modelers, animators, lighters, and compositors to produce visuals that elevate storytelling to new heights. In this role, you’ll not only craft world-class effects but also help prototype artist tools, lead FX teams on individual shows, and explore real-time effects in addition to pre-rendered cinematics. Key Responsibilities Produce feature film-quality FX using Houdini, including particle systems, fluid dynamics, rigid body dynamics, and procedural systems. Design and implement both realistic and abstract FX for cinematic storytelling. Collaborate across disciplines to ensure shots meet Blizzard’s high artistic and technical standards. Prototype and help develop artist tools in partnership with the technical team. Lead FX teams on specific cinematic projects. Work with both custom and industry-standard game engines for real-time effects. Experience & Skills Required To excel in this position, candidates should bring: 10+ years of experience producing feature film-quality FX in Houdini. Mastery of particle systems, fluid dynamics, and procedural workflows. Strong artistic sensibility and problem-solving skills. Compositing experience with node-based tools like Nuke. A deep understanding of natural phenomena and physical dynamics. Experience or enthusiasm for working with real-time effects.
