CD PROJEKT RED, Our mission is to create revolutionary, story-driven RPGs that go straight to the hearts of gamers. We are a studio built on passion, where every ember in a campfire and every neon flicker in a rain-slicked alleyway is crafted with intention. Through our YouTube channel and “Beyond the Game” blog, we pull back the curtain on our culture—a mix of high-level professional technicality and a casual, creative atmosphere. Joining us means becoming part of a community that values your growth as much as the final product.
During your time at the studio, you will be fully integrated into the VFX department. You won’t be working on “simulated” tasks; you will be contributing to the actual production pipeline under the mentorship of veteran artists.
- Support Effect Creation: You will assist in the development of various visual effects, learning how to balance artistic flair with technical performance.
- Team Collaboration: You will work in close cooperation with senior VFX artists, environment artists, and gameplay designers to ensure that visual effects align with the game’s overall aesthetic and functional requirements.
- Real-Time VFX Development: You will help create real-time visual FX for characters (e.g., combat effects, magic), environments (e.g., weather, ambient particles), and gameplay cues.
- Pipeline Maintenance: You will work with internal documentation and contribute to maintaining an efficient production pipeline, learning the rigorous standards required for modern game engines.
- Documentation: You will assist in documenting workflows and asset management, ensuring that the team’s collective knowledge is preserved and accessible.
The RED Summer Internship is a highly competitive program designed for those at the very start of their professional journey. Please ensure you meet all the following mandatory criteria before applying:
Mandatory Requirements
- Age: You must be at least 18 years old.
- Status: You must be a fresh high school graduate or a current university student.
- Residency: You are required to reside in Poland throughout the entire three-month internship.
- Availability: You must be available for 40 hours per week from the beginning of July until the end of September.
- Language: A good command of English is required, as our studio operates in a global, multilingual environment. Your CV must be submitted in English.
Technical Skills & Portfolio
- Unreal Engine & Niagara: You should possess a foundational knowledge of Unreal Engine, specifically its Niagara particle system. You understand how to manipulate emitters, modules, and parameters to achieve a desired visual result.
- VFX Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing your Real-Time VFX art is mandatory. We want to see how you handle timing, color, shape, and movement within a game engine.
- Soft Skills: You must demonstrate a strong will to learn and cooperate. Gaming is a team sport; great communication skills are essential for translating feedback into artistic improvements.
Desirable Extras (“Nice to Have”)
- Houdini Experience: Familiarity with SideFX Houdini for procedural generation or complex simulations is a significant plus.
- Artistic Foundation: A background in traditional art, physics, or cinematography.
- Game Logic: A basic understanding of blueprints or scripting to trigger effects.
This role is office-first, meaning you will be working from our Warsaw headquarters 5 days per week. We believe that for technical and artistic roles like VFX, the immediate feedback and collaborative energy of the studio environment are vital for an intern’s growth.
Perks & Benefits
- Financial Compensation: This is a fully paid internship with a gross hourly rate of 31.40 PLN, ensuring your contributions are valued.
- Flexible Working Hours: We understand that everyone has a different rhythm. You can start your workday anytime between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

- Sustainability & Commuting: We provide dedicated spaces for bicycles, repair equipment, and showers for those who bike to work. Our campus also features electric car charging points and lush green zones.
- No Dress Code: Wear what makes you comfortable. We care about your creativity and your craft, not your suit.
The RED Summer Internship isn’t just a line on your resume; it’s an immersive experience in one of the most respected gamedev studios in the world. You will see firsthand how a story-driven RPG evolves from a concept into a living, breathing world. You will be surrounded by people who have spent their lives perfecting the art of digital storytelling, and you will have the opportunity to pick their brains every single day.
We are committed to a truly international working environment. You will meet people from across the globe, each bringing a unique perspective to the table. This diversity is what allows us to create stories that resonate with millions of different players.
