Are you a passionate gamer with a keen eye for detail? Do you find yourself analyzing the mechanics of Night City or the ecological storytelling of the Continent? CD PROJEKT RED, the visionary creators behind The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077, is looking for talented, curious individuals to join our RED Summer Internship program as a UX Research Intern.
This is not just a “coffee-run” internship. You will be embedded within our User Research team in Warsaw, gaining hands-on experience in how AAA titles are tested, refined, and perfected through the lens of the player experience.

Our mission is simple yet ambitious: to create revolutionary, story-driven RPGs that go straight to the hearts of gamers. We believe in quality over quantity and player-centric design. As an intern, you won’t just be watching from the sidelines; you will be part of a team that values creative freedom and technical excellence. Our studio culture is built on transparency, passion, and a “Beyond the Game” philosophy that prioritizes the human element of game development.
As a UX Research Intern, your primary goal is to bridge the gap between the developers’ vision and the players’ reality. You will support the team in understanding how players interact with our games and where the friction points lie.
- Playtest Planning & Execution: Under the guidance of a senior mentor, you will help design and organize playtest sessions. This includes preparing the builds, setting up the laboratory environment, and ensuring that the research objectives are clearly defined.
- Participant Interaction: You will be on the front lines, greeting playtesters and conducting professional interviews. Your task is to extract honest, qualitative feedback about their emotional journey and gameplay hurdles.
- Shadowing & Mentorship: You will shadow experienced researchers and moderators. This is a primary learning pillar where you observe how pros handle unexpected technical glitches or “difficult” participants while maintaining scientific neutrality.
- Session Moderation: Once you’ve found your footing, you will take the lead in moderating sessions. You’ll ensure that participants follow the protocol and that the data collected is clean and unbiased.
- Data Analysis & Synthesis: Research is nothing without insights. You will contribute to the analysis of the qualitative and quantitative data gathered, helping to turn player frustrations into actionable “bugs” or design suggestions for the dev teams.
To ensure a fair and productive internship for both the studio and the student, we have established a specific set of mandatory criteria.
Mandatory Criteria
- Age: You must be at least 18 years old.
- Education: You must be a fresh high school graduate or a current university student.
- Residency: You must reside in Poland for the entire duration of the program.
- Availability: Full availability (40 hours per week) from July through September is required.
- Language: High proficiency in English (C1/C2 level) is essential, as we are an international studio. Your CV must be submitted in English.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Tooling: Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs for reporting, Sheets for data, Slides for presentations).
- Passion: A strong interest in technology and the gaming industry is a must. You should understand why games work (or why they don’t).
- Foundational UX Knowledge: A basic understanding of User Experience principles or a background in sociology/psychology is highly valued.
- Communication: Strong analytical thinking combined with the ability to communicate complex feelings into simple, clear reports.
“Nice to Have” Extras
- Experience with OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) or other recording/streaming tools.
- A deeper understanding of the Game Development Life Cycle (GDLC).
- Previous experience in hosting events or public speaking.
Work Environment & Culture
CD PROJEKT RED believe that a creative mind needs a supportive environment. The Warsaw office is designed to be more than just a workplace.
- Office-First Strategy: We value the synergy of in-person collaboration. You will be expected to be in the Warsaw office at least 4 days per week.
- Flexible Hours: We don’t believe in the 9-to-5 grind. You can start your day anytime between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM.
- Dog-Friendly Policy: We know that pets reduce stress. You are welcome to bring your well-behaved dog to the studio.
- Health & Wellness: Our campus features a fully equipped gym, a climbing wall, and classes for yoga and boxing. We also provide canteens with healthy food selections.
- Sustainability: We take our environmental impact seriously, providing electric car charging stations and dedicated green zones for relaxation.
The gaming industry is notoriously difficult to break into. The RED Summer Internship serves as a golden ticket for those looking to build a career in AAA development. You will receive a competitive hourly wage, a welcome pack of studio gear, and the chance to participate in regular social events where you can network with the minds behind Geralt of Rivia and V.
We celebrate diversity and maintain a truly international environment. You will work with people from all over the world, sharing perspectives that will broaden your professional and personal horizons.
