We are seeking a visionary Gen-AI Producer to architect, structure, and scale our dedicated AI Department. While the AI Head of Department (HoD) focuses on the creative and technical “how,” you will focus on the strategic “why,” “when,” and “how much.”

Your mission is to transform a rapidly evolving field of technology into a structured, predictable, and highly efficient department. You will ensure that our R&D efforts result in tangible tools that save time, reduce costs, and empower our artists to achieve the impossible. You are the architect of the ROI for our most innovative department, ensuring that every neural network trained translates into a stunning frame on screen.

1. Strategic Departmental Architecture

• Roadmap Definition: Translate company-wide growth goals into a technical AI roadmap. Identify which emerging technologies (Gen-AI, Neural Rendering, LLMs) offer the highest value to our specific VFX workflows.
• Structural Implementation: Define the hierarchy, roles, and responsibilities within the AI team, ranging from Machine Learning Engineers to AI Artists and Pipeline TDs.
• Operational Rigor: Move AI from a “lab” environment to a “production-ready” status by implementing clear checkpoints, sprint cycles, and delivery milestones.

2. Production Integration & Resource Management

• Workflow Sync: Work alongside VFX Producers and Supervisors to identify “pain points” in current shows (e.g., complex rotoscoping, face replacement, or environment generation) that can be solved via AI.
• Resource Allocation: Balance the team’s time between immediate production support (“I need this shot solved now”) and long-term R&D (“I need a tool that solves this class of shots forever”).
• Change Management: Facilitate the adoption of AI tools across the wider studio, ensuring artists feel empowered—not replaced—by new technology.

3. Financial & Performance Oversight

• Budget Management: Oversee the AI department’s annual budget, managing hardware costs (GPU clusters), cloud compute credits, and software licensing.
• ROI Analysis: Evaluate the impact of AI initiatives on studio efficiency. Provide data-driven reports to executive leadership on how AI is reducing manual labor hours and increasing output quality.
• Hiring & Performance: Lead the recruitment of specialized talent in the AI/ML space and manage the ongoing performance and career development of the team.

4. Research, Documentation & Sharing

• Outcome Tracking: Ensure that R&D is not an open-ended expense. Establish clear objectives and measurable outcomes for every research project.
• Knowledge Base: Oversee the documentation of all internal AI tools, training models, and datasets, ensuring that 22 DOGS VFX retains its intellectual property in a structured, accessible format.

Required Skills and Qualifications

We are looking for a unique professional who possesses the organizational mind of a Senior Producer and the technical literacy of an AI enthusiast.

• Production Leadership: 7+ years of experience managing technical or creative teams within VFX, Animation, Gaming, or Tech-driven media environments.
• AI/ML Literacy: A solid conceptual and practical understanding of:
  • Generative AI: Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, Video-Gen models, etc.
  • Machine Learning/Deep Learning: The fundamentals of model training, datasets, and fine-tuning.
  • Computer Vision: Face replacement, neural tracking, and automated segmentation.
• Project Management Mastery: Proven ability to manage complex roadmaps using Agile, Scrum, or similar methodologies.
• Pragmatic Mindset: You are focused on results. You prefer a tool that works 90% of the time today over a “perfect” solution that won’t be ready for two years.
• Communication: Ability to act as a “translator” between highly specialized ML Engineers and creative VFX Supervisors.

Preferred Attributes

• VFX Context: A deep understanding of the standard VFX pipeline (Maya, Nuke, ShotGrid) is a massive advantage.
• Italian Language: Given our Milanese roots, proficiency in Italian is a significant plus for internal cultural integration.
