Framestore, an Oscar and BAFTA award-winning creative studio, is officially inviting applications for its 2026 Launchpad Internship program, specifically within our Pre-Production Services division. This is a premier opportunity for aspiring Previs Artists to transition from academic study to a professional high-end cinematic environment in London.

As a Previs Artist, you act as an in-house cinematographer and 3D storyboarder. You are responsible for visualising the Director’s initial vision, creating an edit that will eventually inform the entire shoot and post-production VFX lifecycle.

The Launchpad Experience

The Launchpad Internship is a structured immersive program designed to fast-track your technical and creative growth. Framestore has a rich history of converting talented interns into full-time junior artists. During your eight weeks at our London studio, you will engage in:

  • Real Project Collaboration: Contribute to actual studio work alongside experienced artists and technologists. Previous interns have worked on massive titles like One Piece, Project Hail Mary, and How to Train Your Dragon.
  • Skill Workshops: Attend exclusive presentations and technical deep-dives hosted by industry experts.
  • Personal Project: Develop a high-quality personal project under the guidance of a mentor to bolster your professional showreel.
  • Networking: Participate in informal meetups and internal studio events to build relationships within the global VFX community.

Role & Responsibilities

Working within the Pre-Production Services team, you will help design pre-visualised shots and sequences. Your work directly influences the creative direction of the project by defining:

  • Shot Composition & Staging: Creating the “blueprint” for complex sequences.
  • Cinematic Language: Making informed choices regarding lens selection, framing, and camera movement.
  • Lighting & Mood: Establishing the initial look and feel of a scene to guide the lighting and compositing teams.
  • Director Collaboration: Translating the Director’s creative vision into a functional 3D edit.

Candidate Requirements

Technical & Creative Skills

  • Cinematic Sense: A strong understanding of composition, lighting, and camera language.
  • Character Animation: Ability to convey performance and timing through 3D animation.
  • Camera Animation: Proficiency in creating dynamic and realistic camera movements.
  • Technical Translation: The ability to translate CG cameras and animation into real-life filming situations.
  • Terminology: Familiarity with technical cinematic terminology and the visual effects process.

Soft Skills

  • Interpretation: A strong ability to take and interpret creative direction from supervisors.
  • Problem-Solving: Creative thinking to visualize sequences before assets are fully built.
  • Organization: Good communication skills and the ability to manage tasks within a production schedule.

Eligibility & Legal Requirements

To maintain the integrity of the Launchpad program, candidates must meet the following strict criteria:

  1. Academic Status: You must be in your final year of a BA, MA, or PhD program, or have graduated within the last 12 months.
  2. Right to Work: You must be a UK resident or hold a valid Resident, Student, or Graduate VISA for the entire duration of the internship (July–August 2026).
  3. Availability: Full-time commitment is required from 6th July to 29th August 2026.
