As an Animator at MR. X, your primary objective is to breathe life into the digital canvas. You will serve as the performance architect for our projects, transforming static rigs into living, breathing entities that possess weight, intent, and emotional depth. Your daily responsibilities will span across structural execution, collaborative iteration, and pipeline communication.

Character Performance & Narrative Storytelling

• Define Character Through Performance: Craft nuanced behavioral profiles for humanoid characters, fantastical creatures, and organic elements. Your animation must transcend basic motion to convey subtext, psychological state, and distinct personality traits.
• Create Fluid and Organic Motion: Apply a deep understanding of biomechanics, physics, weight distribution, and inertia to ensure every performance feels grounded within its physical universe.
• Amplifying Narrative Trajectory: Analyze scripts, storyboards, and directorial briefs to ensure your assigned shots directly support the overarching thematic goals of the scene.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration & Review

• Peer & Supervisor Alignment: Work closely with Animation Supervisors, Lead Animators, and peer artists to maintain style and performance continuity across sequences.
• Feedback Integration: Participate in dailies and review sessions. Receive complex, subjective creative critiques and translate them into actionable, objective technical adjustments.
• Rapid Prototyping: Generate high-quality previsualization (previs), exploratory animation tests, and structural layouts under tight turnarounds to help directors discover the visual rhythm of a scene.

Production Rigor & Pipeline Management

• Schedule Adherence: Maintain transparent communication with Production Managers and Coordinators regarding time estimates, technical roadblocks, and delivery milestones.
• Deadline Management: Consistently deliver production-ready data that meets scheduled deadlines, ensuring downstream departments (such as Lighting, FX, and Compositing) can proceed without delays.

Software Mastery

• Autodesk Maya: Complete, intimate knowledge of Autodesk Maya is non-negotiable. Candidates must demonstrate expert-level navigation of the Maya animation toolset, including advanced manipulation of the Graph Editor, Time Editor, Trax Editor, and complex Euler rotation workflows.
• Pipeline Literacy: Familiarity with modern studio production tracking software (e.g., ShotGrid/Shotgun) and asset management paradigms is essential for maintaining pipeline synchronization.

Technical Understandings

• Anatomical & Biomechanical Rigging Foundations: While you will not be building consumer-facing assets from scratch, you must possess a thorough understanding of underlying puppet architectures, skeletal deformities, and blendshape networks. You must speak the technical language of the Rigging Department to diagnose asset limitations and request custom tools or attributes effectively.
• Camera Tracking & Layout Dynamics: A foundational grasp of camera tracking metrics, focal lengths, sensor sizes, and spatial parallax is required. This knowledge ensures your animation balances performance needs with real-world cinematography limitations.
