Job Summary : Mid-Level Compositing Artist

Position Overview: Shaping the Final Canvas

As a Mid-Level Compositing Artist at Twilight Post, you will serve as the crucial final line of creative execution. Compositing is where all elements—live-action footage, CGI renders, matte paintings, special effects, and color grading—converge into a seamless, unified visual masterpiece.

You will be responsible for integrating diverse visual layers into complex shots, ensuring that every element looks organic, physically accurate, and visually stunning. Working closely with our supervisors, leads, and fellow artists, you will take mid-to-high complexity shots from initial blockouts all the way to final delivery, maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency under production deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Seamless Integration: Combine live-action elements, multi-pass CGI, mattes, and FX layers to create photorealistic, highly polished final shots.
• Green/Blue Screen Cleanup: Execute advanced rotoscoping, wire removals, marker cleanups, and high-precision keying to isolate subjects cleanly from their backgrounds.
• Color & Lighting Matching: Balance black levels, color spaces, grain structures, and lighting direction across disparate elements to unify the look of every sequence.
• Shot Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot technical pipeline issues, edge artifacts, depth-of-field integration, and projection setups independently.
• Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Coordinate smoothly with 3D, FX, and paint/prep departments to ensure smooth data flow and quick turnaround on shot revisions.
• Quality Assurance: Adhere strictly to the studio’s pipeline protocols, naming conventions, and artistic guidelines while meeting aggressive delivery schedules.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Software Mastery: Strong, demonstrated proficiency in Nuke, alongside a working knowledge of supporting tools (e.g., Photoshop, Mocha, or equivalent tracking and paint software).
• Industry Experience: Solid mid-level professional experience working within a dedicated VFX or post-production studio environment on commercial, episodic, or feature film projects.
• Technical Foundation: Deep understanding of compositing principles, including node-based architecture, multi-pass workflows, color management (OCIO, ACES), camera tracking, and deep compositing.
• Artistic Eye: Excellent aesthetic judgment regarding composition, perspective, scale, lighting, shadow interaction, and overall photographic realism.
• Team Player & Communicator: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to take constructive feedback gracefully, iterate rapidly, and support junior team members when needed.
