We are seeking an experienced VFX Lighting Artist to join our team in Pune for a high-impact, feature-film project. If you are an artist who values technical precision as much as creative flair, philm CGI is the perfect place to contribute to world-class visual storytelling.
The Role: Crafting Light and Atmosphere
The Lighting department is where the story finally comes to life. As a Lighting Artist at philm CGI, you will be responsible for translating creative concepts into cinematic reality. You will work on complex, visually stunning sequences, ensuring that every element—from hair and skin to intricate hard-surface assets—is rendered to perfection.
Core Responsibilities:
- Scene Assembly: Assemble complex lighting scenes using assets and elements provided by the shot finalizing department.
- Plate Matching: Match CG lighting to live-action plates, set references, and concept art, working closely with supervisors and leads to maintain consistency.
- Advanced Rendering: Expertly light and render CG assets, with a focus on high-fidelity features like CG hair and scattering skin materials.
- Artistic Precision: Apply strong artistic judgment regarding color, practical lighting, and image analysis to elevate the visual quality of every shot.
- Efficiency: Manage and assemble complex scenes efficiently, ensuring high-quality output while adhering to production deadlines.

Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a seasoned professional who understands that great lighting is a balance of physics and storytelling. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where precision is paramount.
Candidate Requirements:
- Professional Experience: 3–4+ years of dedicated VFX experience, specifically within the feature film industry.
- Technical Mastery: Proficiency in Houdini and a deep understanding of lighting techniques.
- Core Principles: Strong knowledge of color space, HDRI, chrome ball referencing, Macbeth charts, and the principles of realistic lighting.
- Toolbox: While Houdini is primary, experience with Maya, Arnold, Redshift, Mantra, Nuke, or Unreal Engine is a significant plus.
- Versatility: Knowledge of Lookdev and shader development is highly desirable.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to participate in creative and technical discussions effectively.
- Collaboration: A true team player who is eager to share knowledge and tackle complex technical challenges in a high-pressure environment.
