The Role: Building the Foundation

As a Modeler or LookDev Artist at Firelight, you will be a cornerstone of our production pipeline. You will be responsible for translating 2D concepts into fully realized 3D environments, characters, and props. Whether you are sculpting the fine details of a hero character’s face or crafting the complex shader networks that define the surface of a futuristic cityscape, your work will be the visual bedrock upon which our films are built.

We are looking for artists who are not just task-driven, but are active participants in the creative process. You will work closely with our wider production team, ensuring that every asset you create is optimized for our pipeline, stylistically aligned with the project’s vision, and executed to the highest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Your contributions will directly impact the final look and feel of our productions. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Asset Creation (Modeling): Developing high-quality 3D assets (characters, props, and environments) that are clean, topology-efficient, and perfectly suited for rigging and animation.
• Visual Development (LookDev): Creating compelling surface materials, textures, and shader networks that enhance the storytelling and visual language of the project.
• Pipeline Adherence: Working within our established studio workflows, ensuring that all assets meet technical specifications regarding naming, organization, and engine optimization.
• Creative Problem Solving: Collaborating with supervisors and fellow artists to troubleshoot visual or technical challenges, ensuring that the creative intent is always preserved.
• Remote Collaboration: Communicating effectively in a remote environment, providing regular status updates, and engaging actively in team meetings and feedback sessions.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking artists who demonstrate both technical mastery and a strong, unique artistic voice. To be considered, you should possess:

• Professional Experience: Demonstrated experience as a Modeler or LookDev artist in an animation or VFX studio environment. We are particularly interested in mid-level to senior-level talent.
• Portfolio Excellence: A reel that highlights your ability to create high-end assets. For modelers, this means clean topology and a keen eye for form; for LookDev artists, this means an expert understanding of lighting, material response, and texture detail.
• Regional Availability: You must be available to work within American or LATAM time zones to ensure seamless collaboration with our production team.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, a professional attitude, and the ability to accept and incorporate creative feedback.
