Job Summary : FX Supervisor

Role Overview: Guiding Creative Simulation

As the FX Supervisor at Outpost VFX, you will serve as the artistic and technical anchor for our Mumbai effects department. Your core responsibility is to oversee and elevate the creation of complex, high-end VFX simulations—spanning pyrotechnics, fluid dynamics, environmental destruction, water, and magical elements—for major film and episodic series.

Working closely with CG Supervisors, VFX Supervisors, Producers, and department leads, you will architect workflows, tackle difficult technical roadblocks, and ensure seamless delivery across pipelines. Beyond technical execution, you will act as a mentor, guiding mid-level and junior artists to elevate Outpost’s global standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervisory Leadership: Spearhead the FX department in Mumbai, guiding the team through complex simulation tasks from concept to final frame.
• Workflow Strategy: Plan, develop, and optimize FX pipelines in collaboration with CG and VFX Supervisors.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner smoothly with production, lighting, compositing, and asset teams to ensure seamless data flow and technical integration.
• Technical Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve complex simulation, rendering, and performance bottlenecks.
• Mentorship & Development: Coach, guide, and mentor FX artists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical growth.
• Quality Control: Maintain Outpost’s rigorous artistic and technical quality standards across all active film and episodic shows.

Requirements

✅ Proven experience as an FX Supervisor or Senior FX Lead on high-end projects
✅ Expertise in Houdini (fluids, pyro, particles, destruction)
✅ Familiar with Maya, Nuke, Arnold, Mantra, Karma
✅ Strong understanding of FX pipelines and rendering workflows
✅ Leadership, communication, and mentoring skills
✅ Experience with Python/VEX and ShotGrid
