Your Mission: The Quest

As a Senior Environment Artist, you are the architect of the player’s experience. You will be responsible for creating the landscapes, structures, and props that define our game’s visual identity. Your role is a blend of high-level artistic vision and rigorous technical optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performance-Driven Creation: You will design and build 3D assets specifically optimized for mobile platforms, ensuring that high visual fidelity never compromises the frame rate on handheld devices.

  • Style Definition & Evolution: Collaborate closely with the Lead Artist and Creative Director to define, iterate, and optimize the 3D art style. You ensure that the aesthetic remains consistent and high-quality across all platforms.

  • Asset Lifecycle Management: Create and improve a wide range of environment assets, from sprawling natural landscapes to intricate architectural structures and interactive buildings.

  • Technical Artistry: Build high-quality Low-Poly models for environments and props. Furthermore, you will be responsible for creating and refining high-quality animations for these assets to add dynamism to the game world.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a bridge between the Art and Development teams. You will provide technical support, share creative ideas, and ensure that assets are integrated into the Unity engine seamlessly.

  • Quality Assurance: Take ownership of the visual consistency and technical performance of the game world, ensuring it resonates with our target audience’s expectations.

Your Skill Set: The Requirements

Travian Games is looking for a professional artist with a “hands-on” mentality. You should be someone who thrives in a collaborative atmosphere but is equally capable of self-organizing complex tasks.

  • Industry Experience: You have several years of professional experience as a 3D Artist within the gaming industry, with a proven track record specifically in Environment Art for mobile or cross-platform games.

  • Modeling Mastery: Advanced expertise in 3D modeling and asset creation is a must. You should understand the nuances of silhouettes, baked lighting, and efficient UV unwrapping.

  • Software Stack:

    • Blender: You are highly proficient and secure in using Blender for your primary modeling workflow.

    • Unity: You have solid experience working within the Unity engine, including asset integration, prefab management, and shader application.

    • Adobe Suite: You are experienced with Photoshop and the Substance suite (Painter/Designer) for high-end texturing.

  • Team Dynamics: You are a team player who enjoys the “WIR” culture. You bring a proactive approach to problem-solving and are comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback.

  • Languages: Excellent communication skills in both English and German are required for this role, as you will be interacting with both local and international team members.
