We are seeking a passionate Lead 3D Character Artist to join our nimble team in Los Angeles. In this role, you will take full ownership of the character art pipeline, from initial concept through final delivery, shaping the look and technical execution of characters that delight global players.


Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Execution: Lead and execute high-quality 3D character art from early prototypes to final in-engine implementation.

  • Standards Advocacy: Define and maintain artistic standards for topology, anatomy, texturing, and shading.

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with art directors, designers, and engineers to ensure seamless character integration into gameplay.

  • Mentorship: Share best practices, establish efficient workflows, and mentor other artists on the team.

  • Pipeline Optimization: Help build and optimize character pipelines, tools, and documentation for scalable production.

  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot technical and artistic challenges that arise during development.


Required Experience & Skills

  • Track Record: Proven experience as a 3D character artist with shipped titles across AAA, indie, or mobile platforms.

  • Software Proficiency: Mastery of industry-standard tools including Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.

  • Technical Art Bridge: Demonstrated ability to bridge the gap between Art and Engineering.

  • Engine Integration: Strong experience integrating assets into game engines, primarily Unreal.

  • Artistic Foundation: Solid understanding of character anatomy, materials, UV workflows, and game-ready asset creation.

Preferred “Nice-to-Have” Skills

  • Prior leadership or mentorship experience in an art production environment.

  • Familiarity with real-time performance optimization.

  • Experience with advanced features like facial rigs, hair systems, or procedural workflows.

  • Experience in pitching creative ideas.
