Role Overview: The Animator’s Mission
The Animator is a bridge between static art and an immersive player experience. In the competitive world of slot gaming, the “feel” of the game is determined by the fluidness of the reels, the impact of the win celebrations, and the personality of the characters.
You will be responsible for creating dynamic motion graphics and character animations that elevate our visual identity. This isn’t just about moving objects from point A to point B; it’s about rhythm, weight, and “the juice”—that extra level of polish that makes a game feel premium.
Core Responsibilities
1. Visual Development & Motion Graphics
Design & Execute: Create high-fidelity animations for symbols, backgrounds, and user interfaces (UI) that align with the game’s theme.
Polishing: Apply a high degree of “polish” to existing assets to ensure every frame of the game meets our quality standards.
Mockups: Rapidly prototype motion tests and concept mockups to help stakeholders visualize the final product before full-scale production.
2. Character & UI Animation
Expressive Character Work: Utilize Adobe After Effects and Spine to create expressive, personality-driven character movements.
Interface Dynamics: Ensure that UI elements (buttons, meters, transitions) feel responsive and rewarding to the player.
3. Technical Integration & Pipeline Collaboration
Asset Prep: Use Photoshop for texture work and preparing 2D assets for the animation pipeline.
Unity Implementation: Collaborate with engineers to implement animations, particle systems, and special effects within the Unity3D engine.
Optimization: Ensure all animations are optimized for real-time performance without sacrificing visual fidelity.
4. Team Synergy
Participate in creative brainstorms with artists, producers, and game designers.
Offer constructive feedback during reviews and remain open to iterative design changes.
Candidate Requirements
Technical Skills
Animation Fundamentals: A mastery of the 12 principles of animation (timing, ease-in/out, squash and stretch, etc.).
Adobe Creative Suite: Expert-level proficiency in After Effects and Photoshop.
Real-Time Engines: Working knowledge of Unity3D, specifically with its animation controllers and particle systems.
Rigging: Experience with 2D rigging (preferably in Spine) to create flexible, reusable character assets.
Professional Experience
Minimum 3 Years: Proven track record in a professional animation role, preferably within the gaming or casino industry.
Portfolio: A strong demo reel that showcases a variety of styles, specifically highlighting motion graphics and character work.
Preferred “Bonus” Skills
Experience with Blender or Maya for 3D elements.
Understanding of Shader animation workflows.
Knowledge of the specific regulatory and psychological nuances of the Casino/Gambling industry.
