Complex Games Inc, Frontier is an independent, award-winning developer and publisher of immersive simulation games. We seek an experienced Animator to join our team in Cambridge. Your Contribution
You will be a core contributor, translating creative vision into polished, game-ready animation assets, working within our proprietary engine and collaborating across all creative and technical disciplines.
What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)

| Animation Craft | Create high-quality, expressive character and creature animations using Maya. |
| Implementation | Implement and validate animations into our proprietary Cobra engine, ensuring minimal bugs. |
| Creative Direction | Take direction from the Lead Animator and Game Director to realize the creative vision. |
| Collaboration | Work seamlessly with Character Art, Code, Design, and VFX teams. |
| Team Support | Contribute to knowledge sharing, provide feedback to external partners, and support junior team members. |
What You’ll Bring (Required Skills)

| Experience | Proven track record producing high-quality animation assets for games. |
| Software Mastery | Strong proficiency in Maya’s character animation tools. |
| Fundamentals | Excellent understanding of body mechanics, posing, timing, and acting choices. |
| Specialization | Expertise in creature animation and creating believable movement. |
| Technical Pipeline | Familiarity with animation state machines and versioning software (SVN, Perforce). |
| Soft Skills | Strong time management, communication, and basic knowledge of rigging pipelines. |
Bonus Skills
- Experience with external animation behaviour tree software (e.g., Havok, Unity, Unreal).
- Scripting knowledge (Python, MEL).
- Experience mentoring or training junior animators.
