Brown Bag Films Bali is a global powerhouse in the animation industry, known for producing high-quality, award-winning content for the world’s leading broadcasters. We are currently talent pooling for creative, technically proficient 3D Modeler & Texture Artists across all seniority levels.

Whether you are an aspiring junior or a seasoned senior artist, we are looking for individuals who can transform 2D concepts into breathtaking 3D realities. At Brown Bag, your technical precision and artistic flair are the foundations upon which our stories are built.

Company Overview

Brown Bag Films is more than just a studio; it is a community of creators. From our state-of-the-art facility in Bali, we collaborate with international partners to deliver “Prestigious Projects” that define modern animation. We value a “Portfolio-First” culture where technical skill, a detail-oriented mindset, and a passion for storytelling take center stage.

Role Overview: Impact & Responsibilities

As a 3D Modeler & Texture Artist, you are responsible for the structural integrity and visual surface of every asset in our pipeline. You will translate 2D designs into production-ready 3D assets, ensuring they are optimized for rigging, animation, and final rendering.

1. Asset Creation & Technical Execution

  • Modeling Excellence: Create high-quality 3D characters, environments, sets, and props based on assignments from the Production Coordinator.

  • Topology Mastery: Ensure all models possess clean, efficient topology that facilitates seamless deformation during the animation phase.

  • Interpretation: Convert complex 2D concept art into accurate 3D representations, maintaining the silhouette, proportions, and “soul” of the original design.

  • Troubleshooting: Proactively identify and resolve modeling-related issues, ensuring assets meet the rigorous technical standards of our pipeline.

2. Advanced Responsibilities (Senior Level)

  • Mentorship: Guide and support Junior and Mid-level artists in their daily tasks, helping them adapt to studio workflows and troubleshoot technical bottlenecks.

  • High-Complexity Tasks: Under the direction of the Lead or Supervisor, handle the most intricate and high-priority assets within the production.

  • Pipeline Innovation: Contribute to the continuous improvement of modeling and texturing workflows to enhance studio efficiency.

3. Behavioral Competencies

  • Punctuality & Reliability: Consistently meet production deadlines and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Communication: Maintain clear, proactive communication with supervisors and team members to ensure alignment on project goals.

  • Adaptive Mindset: Be open-minded and receptive to creative feedback, showing an ability to pivot based on Director or Client standards.

Required Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Software Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of Autodesk Maya is essential.

  • Structural Logic: A deep understanding of how to construct “good topology” for both hard-surface objects and organic characters.

  • Artistic Translation: The ability to read 2D orthographics and concept sketches and translate them into functional 3D volumes.

  • Optimization: Knowledge of UV mapping and texturing techniques to ensure assets are ready for the Surfacing and Shading departments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Industry Experience: A minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a 3D Modeler in a TV, Film, or AAA Game production environment.

  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of assets—from complex characters to detailed environments.

  • Team Player: A proven track record of working collaboratively within a large-scale studio environment.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to deconstruct technical errors in geometry or file structure.

Perks, Benefits & Culture

Brown Bag Films Bali is committed to providing a “Comfortable Working Environment” that fosters creativity and long-term career satisfaction.

  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive Medical, Health, and Life Insurance.

  • Family Care: Generous Maternity and Paternity leave policies.

  • Financial Future: Retirement Benefit Plans for long-term security.

  • Growth & Development: Dedicated “Training & Professional Development” paths to help you move from Junior to Lead roles.

  • Studio Life: Engaging “Fun Activities” and the opportunity to work on world-class, globally recognized IP.

Application & Selection Process

We are currently building a talent pool for upcoming major productions. Our recruitment process focuses on finding the right balance of technical skill and cultural fit.

  1. Portfolio Submission: Showcase your best modeling and texturing work (Wireframes must be included to demonstrate topology).

  2. Assessment: We will evaluate your ability to meet our technical “Gold Standard.”

  3. Interview: A discussion with the Asset Lead and HR to discuss your experience and career aspirations.
