Primary Responsibilities
Performance & Action: Collaborate with the Animation Lead and Supervisor to produce high-quality animation that creates compelling, story-driven moments.
Asset Management: Animate both primary hero characters and secondary environmental elements.
Feedback Integration: Submit shots for regular review and follow through with creative notes and technical feedback with a positive, iterative mindset.
Deadline Adherence: Work efficiently within a team structure or independently to meet strict show deadlines and delivery schedules.
Tech Evolution: Keep pace with internal tools, software updates, and proprietary technology used within the Framestore pipeline.
Qualifications & Skills
The Essentials
Artistic Foundation: A proven understanding of performance, acting, and character “soul.”
Physicality: Deep knowledge of physical motion, weight, balance, and the mechanics of body movement.
Creature Work: A strong grasp of animal and creature anatomy and believable movement patterns.
Software Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Maya.
Pipeline Awareness: A solid understanding of 3D rigs, typical rigging setups, and the general VFX pipeline.
Soft Skills: Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills. You must be a team player who is open to direction and adaptable to change.
Nice to Have
Traditional Arts: A background in traditional animation, drawing, or illustration.
Technical Edge: Working knowledge of Mel/Python scripting, Modeling, or Rigging.
Motion Capture: Previous experience working with and cleaning up MoCap data.
Pressure Management: The ability to stay focused and deliver high-quality work during crunch periods or tight deadlines.
