About the Role We are seeking a Lead Lighting Artist ✨ to join our team in Helsinki. You will work closely with the Technical Art Director and help supervise the lighting department, maintaining the highest visual quality standards across all projects. This role combines hands-on creative work 🎨 with team leadership 👥, mentorship, and pipeline development. You will define best practices, improve workflows, and ensure both artistic quality and technical performance are consistently delivered. A portfolio showcasing high-end, real-time lighting work is required. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered. Your Day-to-Day Plan and scope lighting needs with the Art Director and Technical Art Director 📅. Define and maintain best practices and workflows for real-time lighting 💡. Lead and mentor the lighting team 👩🎨👨🎨, encouraging professional growth and cohesion. Establish artistic and technical lighting targets for in-house and external teams 🌟. Balance leadership with hands-on lighting work, including levels and cinematics 🎬. Review lighting work regularly, offering feedback to raise overall quality 📈. Ensure consistency of lighting style across all project assets 🎨. Collaborate with other departments to meet visual, gameplay, and technical needs 🤝. Discuss lighting features and improvements with Graphics Programmers 💻. Manage lighting tasks, bugs 🐞, and priorities with Production and QA teams. Appraise team performance, provide feedback, and support career growth 🌱. Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe work environment 🌈. Requirements Shipped at least one PC/Console title as a Lead Lighting Artist 🎮. 8+ years in AAA game development (PC and/or console). Expert knowledge of real-time lighting techniques and PBR 🔥. Strong experience with node-based shaders related to lighting. Understanding of scripting for lighting interactions 💻. Deep understanding of how lighting supports gameplay, storytelling, and mood 🎭. Ability to optimize lighting for performance and memory budgets without sacrificing quality ⚡. Strong eye for aesthetics, color theory, and composition 🎨. Familiarity with Perforce and project management tools like Jira 📂. Fluent written and verbal English 🗣️. Passion for video games 🎮. Bonus Skills Experience with Unreal Engine or proprietary AAA engines 🛠️. Background in cinematic lighting or photography 🎬📷. Experience with global illumination and ray tracing 🌐.
