4A Games seeking a highly skilled and inventive Senior Procedural Environment Artist to join our team in developing an exciting new IP. This role is crucial for automating and optimizing the creation of dynamic, large-scale game environments using cutting-edge procedural techniques.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Procedural Environment Artist, you will:
- Develop Procedural Tools: Utilize tools like Houdini or Geometry Nodes to design, implement, and maintain systems for generating environments, effects, and asset populations.
- World Building: Create complex layouts and assemble dynamic environments by working with existing assets to efficiently fill the game world.
- Workflow Optimization: Collaborate closely with Art and Tech Art teams to streamline environment creation workflows, improve efficiency, and integrate procedural tools into our core pipeline.
- Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Work seamlessly with Game Design, Level Design, and Art teams, ensuring the procedural output aligns with the artistic vision and gameplay requirements.
- Pipeline Excellence: Research, define, extend, and maintain production pipelines, processes, and workflows, always adhering to the production schedule.
- Support & Documentation: Proactively identify art-related issues, propose technical solutions, document processes, and provide training and support for procedural content.
- Rapid Prototyping: Perform quick research and blockouts for shapes, forms, and environments.
✅ Required Skills & Experience
- Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in game development and modeling.
- Procedural Mastery: Strong, demonstrable experience with procedural creation software, with a significant preference for Houdini.
- Technical Artistry: A strong understanding and sense of graphical shape, form, and silhouette, with the ability to work with both organic structures and complex layouts.
- Scripting: Proficiency in Python or a similar scripting language.
- Engine & Optimization: Solid knowledge of real-time rendering engines, their resource limits, and optimization techniques.
- Pipeline Knowledge: Familiarity with engine tooling, automation, and modern AAA production pipelines.
- Asset Authoring: Experience with the successful creation and deployment of large asset volumes.
- Teamwork: Ability to work creatively and collaboratively within a large or small team environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

- Technical or Art education is a bonus.
- Experience with commercial game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
